Imagine the ego of a woman who would dare to write her name over our most cherished symbol. Has she no respect for her own country? Or is she above that now?

When I was at the Olympic Games in Korea (1988) a Korean kid was passing around an American flag and asking everyone to autograph it. Because I added my sig that means I desecrated the flag and hate America eh? Wrong.

The autographs included "Babe Ruth" and "Luke Skywalker" by the way.

A lot of people do not know the etiquette regarding the flag. Mrs. Palin evidently does not but do you think Mr. Obama knows the etiquette either? It just proves the failure of the educational system to teach civic duties in the US for the last 40 years or so.

Flag disrespect happens all over this country. Just last month here in Indiana, I saw that the state of Indiana and the MIA flags at our courthouse were faded and dirty. The “US flag was dirty. I couldn’t even tell what color the state flags was. I sent a letter to the editor in the newspaper complaining about the disrespect against the people who fought and died for those symbols. Needless to say, they were replaced with new flags within a week.

The flag is a symbol, not just the US flag but any flag a person flies. Historically, Americans have used the flag as symbol of respect, respect for those who have fallen in battle, respect for those who have served, respect for all Americans. When someone disrespects the flag they are disrespecting all of us.
