THE VIGIL LIST

For all those with joys we rejoice, and we pray or send positive vibes and keep vigil for:

Harper, the inspiration for the vigil list. More surgeries ahead.
Ringel05 for continued wellness and his brothers' families for relief from adversity and illness.
Hombre & Foxfyre's son Mike for continued wellness
Beautress for health and wellness.
SFC Ollie for healing and wellness
Gracie for solutions and peace.
Mrs. Saveliberty for healing.
Oddball's mom for continued good health and healing.
And all our insomniacs having trouble getting a good night's sleep.
Ringel05's brother Dutch for successful treatment.
Hombre for upcoming cancer surgery on Jan 28.
Happy Dances for Mr. Boe and for Dajjal and his sister for successful outcomes.

And we keep the light on so those who have moved on to other places can find their way back. And we hope they do.

Thank you Foxfyre! mr. boe had his surgery yesterday. So far so good - his pain level has decreased quite a bit. We are very hopeful for a full recovery!

Oh my. I thought it was already over or I would have worded the Vigil List differently. But for sure we'll keep it going for that full recovery.

mr. boe needed a second procedure. We've been a bit overwhelmed with that. One more follow up thing that may need to be done for his hip - but his back issue has been handled. Thank you!

I can appreciate that. Hombre's initial surgery was stressful enough but he came through that with flying colors. But the doc was concerned that the cancer went right to the edge of the incised lesion and, as he is at high risk for reoccurrence anyway, they want to do the additional surgery to be sure he gets to live out his allotted number of days. So that happens Tuesday and will be a more radical surgery requiring a night of hospitalization but hopefully will take care of the problem forever. A PET/Ct scan earlier this week showed no cancer anywhere outside the one problem.

But it does get overwhelming at times. We need to be able to lean on others a bit.

TBT on Friday time!

An instant classic from the Jusse Smollett kerfuffle...Though out on the furry fringes of political, still hilarious.

Laughter = The best medicine

Funny. Almost too controversial for the Coffee Shop but funny. :)

Pigs got hay>

Wow. I never would have thought of feeding pigs hay. We've never had any of our own but sometimes fed the neighbor's pigs when they were gone at feeding time. I was pretty young then but I'm pretty sure we didn't feed them hay. I loved taking hay to the horses though. Somehow they always got more excited over that than they did their grain.

well thats their bedding FF , we're in the single digits F here, but they keep their pen in the low 40'sF as long as they're 'hayed out' enough.......problem is, they do eat the hay ......pigs just aren't picky eaters....🐷~S~

Okay I'm curious. Isn't hay a rather expensive bedding material? I have a great nephew who bales and sells hay and it's REALLY expensive these days. Most livestock bedding is straw that some will consume some of if they're really hungry but otherwise most don't. But maybe pigs will eat pretty much anything?

Hombre as an insurance adjuster once worked a truck accident cargo loss that constituted as I recall a load of potatoes. The insurance company told Hombre to get rid of them any way he could. So he offered them to nearby pig farms. They said they couldn't take them because they would upset the scientifically formulated diet for the pigs.

They finally just opened the area up to the public to come get as many free potatoes as they could carry. :)

This looks like it was before my time, i was born in the 1970s, but is still appropriate as I dont recall having much safety going on with anything.

We did have the rope thing--I don't remember any mat at all--but it was one skill I just never got the hang of. Could not climb that rope. Fortunately my other work in P.E. class allowed me to pass with an A, but I just couldn't make it up that rope.

Do they serve chai tea around here or is that too foreign?

The Coffee Shop serves anything you might have ever had, heard of, or envisioned. :)

Chai tea is really good stuff but I haven't found anyplace around here that sells it. But I suppose a person could blend their own.

Here is one using peppercorns that I never heard of. I think the authentic stuff has a number of additional ingredients than those you find in most English recipes though.

You can get chai tea bags at any regular grocery store, or Walmart/Target type of store. I don’t know how they compare to what you would get from, say, a restaurant in India, but they work well enough for me 😝

I was born in the 70s and I’m pretty sure I did a rope climb in school at some point. I’m not certain; I might be mixing up movies with memories:lol:

I’ve got good masala chai tea bags from an Asian grocer. If making my own I would add cinnamon sticks, cardamon pods, fresh ginger maybe some fennel seeds and a couple of star anise. Lots of strong tea and milk. No sugar as I try to leave it out.

The real deal in India is the best though.

And the lassis.

Yum.
