US to withdraw from NATO?

What?

No, if Germany was attacked by Russia, the US's job is to DEFEND GERMANY. Not to go and invade Russia. They could if they wanted.

But if Germany said "we're invading Russia" the US could say "no, that's not what NATO is for".

I get the 'offensive/defensive' component, we attacked Iran so I have no issue with other NATO members sitting this one out.

But it clearly states that 'an attack against one is an attack against all.' IF Russia attacked the US, would the US retaliate militarily? So the NATO pact means that if Russia attacks a NATO member country, we would then be obligated to strike back against Russia.

Again, this is how skirmishes turn into WORLD WARS.

Yeah, maybe it is.

But then if NATO didn't exist Russia would be more likely to attack other countries. It attacked the Ukraine because it isn't NATO. If the Ukraine had been NATO, they wouldn't have attacked.

See how this works?

******* hell.

How not to have a conversation 101.

Ya know what, my apologies. I was mistaken apparently. I, politely, assumed that your ignorance was limited to only political matters. However I see now that the extents of your ignorance extends well beyond that of politics. I figured that you were here, on the USMB, that you might have some clue as to how the internet works but it has become glaringly obvious that you don't. I would highly recommend that you get one of your grandchildren to explain things to you. But do us all a favor, really try to pay attention this time...

And what business is it of ours that Russia invaded Ukraine?

Bye asshole.

That means the ignore list.

It’s not Trump

Whoever is in charge has Trump by the balls
LoL!

Some some mystery man in Iran who is "in charge" but mainly "in hiding" has the president who is bombing his infrastructure, his command and control and his nuclear weapons program into the stone age by the balls?

You keep dreaming, rw.

I disagree. We need to be involved, but we don't need to overpay for the privilege.
We could always employ the European Strategy. Let someone else pay the costs of membership and when it is time to act do the bare minimum like send water or something. Russia wants to nuke France, UK and Germany? We can send skin ointment to those that survive.

In post #330 I asked you why is it America’s job to defend Germany?

My guess is your answer, if there ever is one, will be But TRUMP!!!

I'll take your "Why is it America's job to defend Germany?" and raise you "Why is it America's job to defend Ukraine?" when they aren't even part of NATO? My guess is because Joe Biden already started the massive grifts and fraud schemes there for the dumocraps to get rich off of.

I think Ukraine is worth defending for a variety of reasons

But as I have pointed out before, the NATO alliance is 980 million people with a GDP almost as large as ours

The french, the germans, the brits, ect want America to do what they can and should do for themselves

The Strait of Hormuz is not the U.S.' balls by any means. That is more wishful thinking.

It isn't even Europe's balls, but they have much more to lose if the strait were to be permanently closed that we do. It won't be, of course, but that is a worst case hypothetical.

Europe has announced that they aren't going to bother about the Strait of Hormuz, so why should we stress about it?

The vestige of resistance in Iran is like a suicide bomber running toward a school. It would make no sense to say, "I'm not going to shoot him, because I'd feel guilty about his death." He's determined to die anyway, so we need only to optimize the timing.

It is in our best interests to keep the Strait open

And I dont care is the spineless Euros help us or not

But my attitude toward our FORMER friends and allies has changed

And not for the better
