US Senate blocks California’s electric car mandate in historic vote

WV (and I'm sure other states) ban the transportation of fire wood..

Actually NY bans the transport of fire wood over more than 2 counties due to the Asian longhorn beetle.

Yes, but less than 40% of our electricity comes from coal.

Meanwhile your vehicle burns 100% oil, and 2/3 of the energy it produces goes out the tailpipe.

Not in the winter. that excess engine heat goes to use.

Combustion also contributes to the AC via the alternator

Both in an EV come from the battery, drastically reducing the overall range of the vehicle.

Across state lines. California banned bringing ICE cars in to sell. Same thing.

Again, stupid, it was never going to get implemented but still a states right.

The electric cars better have all of the bugs out of them before they are the majority of vehicles on the roads and highways. Having them die from lack of power on the highways which are congested already would cause tens of miles backups.

Bugs ?

What bugs?

Here are a few of the things electric car owners NEVER have to worry about.

Transmissions.
Complies inefficient engines with lots of moving parts
Oil changes
Coolant
Differentials

my experience with batteries indicates that one can reasonably expect at least 300,000 miles on it before it needs to be serviced. And they are recycled.

The excess heat loss is harnessed. But the efficiency ratio does not change, as it is waste.

I drive a PHEV. I Ave no need any significant reduction in range or mileage from using the AC.

And yet you still argue over it, and want to see it implemented.

Bullshit.

its really none of your business what others want to drive. If someone is OK with decreased range, that's up to them.

ICE has long had their ranges affected by cold or hot weather also.

It's my business when they try to ignore the fact that this impacts range far more than they admit to.

The impact on range in ICE vehicles is minimal due to heating or cooling. the waste heat used for heating doesn't impact range, and the power pulled from an alternator for AC marginally impacts range.

Lol, it affects you none.

All the same it does and again, its really none of your business what others want to drive.

Sorry but anything in the US or that impact the US is my business if I choose to make it so.

******* Freedom, dippy.
