It's true we are about the same as Italy, but consider the size and population if Italy and the US. Were are what, three, four times as big as Italy? That puts it at proper perspective. If Italy were a state, it would be the 5th largest state in the US, between New Mexico and Arizona.

The pandemic shows yet again that we people have no representation in our political system, by design. Our political class simply does not care, has no need to, and our political system selects for charlatans to be in those positions and leave us to the whims of concentrated capital. That’s their role in society; that of the little Eichmann.

Our “exceptional” self-aggrandized american “way of life” has been exposed to be the fraud it has always been now. Our “representatives”, our “leaders”, pimps really, hid from the public that a pandemic was coming while they informed the donor class; the substantial people and these pimps all got their insider trading wrapped up, sodomizing the 401k working and underclasses like they bipartisanly sodomized children in the Epstein/Maxwell (who was allowed to slither back off into the shadows so as not to further embarrass the aristocracy) child sex trafficking operation over decades.

What’s the feckless, impotent self-serving response of our ruling aristocracy? Double down on more of the SOS and await a different outcome; evermore societal wealth redistribution upward, fewer of the masses to deal with after the first of the COVID-19 retroviral waves rolls through society, and blame China for the inevitable ramifications of how we organize our society. We left ourselves wide open. Our societal priorities have consequences. They’ve come home to roost. Those who made the decisions will be impacted least, they will get priority access to testing and treatment, and they have tax payer funded healthcare. Win win as the moneychangers like to say.

We have a military presence in 70% of the nations on the planet, supporting 73% of the world’s dictatorships. We have the most expansive incarceration apparatus ever known to humankind locking down 25% of the world’s incarcerated population versus our comprising 5% of global population. We have militarized “law” enforcement. The entire population is under constant mass corporate state surveillance. We have for profit internment/concentration camps up and running, easily anyone can be targeted for inclusion, americans being so easily turned on one another. The corporate state media machine has been monopolized down to half a dozen multinational corporations spinning spectacle and illusion at a level of efficiency Edward L Bernays could never have imagined given the technology of his day. We can whip up an endless stream of illegal unconstitutional wars without end, Amen, Amen, while no one asks "how we gonna pay for that?". But America simply cannot get it’s shit together on this pandemic, and this was by bipartisanly achieved over time via neoliberal economic fantasy and a lean six sigma approach to life itself.

It has never been clearer who our economic/political system serves, it has never been we the people. We are all tacitly complicit in cooperating with and participating in a death cult for Wall Street returns paradigm. We the people know what our "representatives" are. Predators.

First of all --- FEWER. "Has FEWER cases than the USA" not "less".

I know this is how English is taught, but I don't really take it seriously as a hard and fast rule. In history, 'less' has always been used with countable nouns, as per wikipedia, at least as far back as Alfred the Great back in 888 and sails way past Shakespeare in common usage. Yup, the Bard. For example, go to most shops, like Walmart and its "20 items or less", not 'fewer' as that would sound stupid. In general, fewer sounds stupid to my ear, 'less' is a much more elegant word.

This so-called rule originates from some grammar nazi's (Baker) preference back in 1770. That's it. Just some dude's preference overturning 900 years of history and people taking it overseriously. Now, you can give me the $$$ for that grammar lesson, although grammar is not my strong suit. Don't have the pedantry for it.

And the reason Covid-19 is lower in China, if they're not lying, is that China is a dictatorship and they can weld doors shut if they want.

You're dealing with a linguistic archconservative here. I'm maybe the only guy left who still spells Halowe'en with the apostrophe. Less and fewer is far more known though except among the wilfully ignorant. And for that I blame Miller Beer commercials ("less calories" my ass). It's simple --- Less rain, fewer raindrops. Less of much, fewer of many. They denote two different things, one is countable the other isn't.

As for China, yes it has a far more authoritarian culture and as such is easier to control more firmly. They don't have a state governor countering shelter orders from mayors. Much less democratic, much more efficient. But the fact remains they have also had more TIME to contain, even after fucking the whole thing up at the beginning, than this country has. It was only yesterday (literally) that the US number of Recovered finally exceeded the number of dead. And that's because Recoveries take much more time than infections do. The more time goes by, the more that ratio starts to resemble real-world expectations. I can't go into more detail that that or I'll get banned by O'Brien at the Ministry of Information here but you can see it right there in the numbers. Just look at those two columns of the countries that have had it the longest, REGARDLESS of their democracy factor -- China, South Korea, even Italy, Spain and France. They've all had the time to amass Recovery numbers. That's because they've had more TIME.

Actually your spelling of "Halowe'en" is incorrect. It is The Origin of 'Halloween.' Or 'Hallowe'en'?
The spelling of Halloween derives from it’s earlier name All Hallows Even (or eve) which took place the night before All Hallows Day, now known as All Saints Day.
All Hallows Even was shortened to Hallowe'en, and later to Halloween. The costumes and the trick-or-treating may come from a mix of Celtic and Middle Ages traditions.

Second --- the simple reason is TIME. China has had this grunge longer than anybody. That's also why it has twenty-two times more people recovered from it than dead. Because recoveries take TIME. So does abatement of an epidemic. China has had TIME that we have not.

That comes to, let's see, fifty-two cents for the English lesson and a hundred million dollars for Captain Obvious.

So, if we had China's numbers would you declare victory.
