US Military's Knee on the Throat of the World

Would have been the perfect time, for principled anti-war people to come forward, across party lines, to support him...
Like who?
There have been many on the left calling for an end to NATO over the past 30 years. Trump came late to that party, and quickly backed away when opposition surfaced.
Maybe he was lying about that too?

Don't you hate it when the Jews take back the villages the Arabs took from the Jews?

NATO is an alliance of collective defense that was created to respond to aggressive actions of the government in Moscow which was then the government of the Soviet Union. That government still exist today in Moscow and harbors aggressive territorial ambitions as proven by their invasion of Ukraine and the annexation of the Ukrainian province of Crimea.
US meddling in Ukrainian politics provoked the annexation of Crimea; had NATO been disbanded when the USSR failed, US arms sales would have taken a big hit, and Russia would have no reason to defend its near-abroad.

1. You don't have to be apart of NATO to buy U.S. military equipment. NATO's existence has no impact on U.S. arm sales. In fact, most NATO countries use European made weaponry when it comes to Main Battle Tanks, Artillery, Armored Personal Carriers, Attack Helicopters, or Combat Aircraft. It was one of the difficult problems with NATO during the Cold War was that each country was using different equipment, unlike the Warsaw Pact which was entirely outfitted with Soviet equipment. It caused NATO a lot of logistical hurdles while the situation was smooth and streamlined for the Warsaw Pact by the Soviet Union.

2. There is NO justification, under any circumstances, for the Russian Federation to INVADE and annex the Crimean province of Ukraine. Nearly every country on the planet is against the Russian annexation of Crimea and wants the Crimea to be returned to Ukraine. This the first invasion and annexation of another countries territory in Europe since ADOLF HITLER did it in the 1940s. It is hostile and shows you what Putin and the Russians think about international law and the use of force. The United States and other European countries have every right to work with Ukraine on a whole host of things from military issues to trade. The Russians got angry when the saw their puppet Prime Minister get thrown out of office by the PEOPLE of UKRAINE who wanted closer ties with the West and potential European Union membership. 20 years ago, only 15% of Ukrainian people were interested in joining NATO. Now 80% of Ukrainians want membership in NATO!

3. There is no such thing as the near-abroad. What the Russians or others refer to as the "near-abroad" are independent countries that are allowed to make their own choices about whether to join a particular economic block or Defensive Alliance. The Russians have no right, to stop any other independent country from joining an Economic Union or Defensive Alliance.

4. Finally, in 2013, a year before the Russians illegal invasion and annexation of the Ukraine province Crimea, the United States withdrew the last of its Main Battle Tank Units, heavy Armor from the European continent. For the first time in 70 years, there were no U.S. heavy armor units on the continent of Europe. While the NATO alliance had expanded eastward since 1999, there were NO U.S. or other Alliance forces stationed in countries from Eastern Europe that had joined the NATO alliance since 1999. The United States was in the process of moving other troops out of Europe and repositioning them either in the United States or in the Pacific. The only ground combat units the United States had in Europe were a lightly armed Airborne Brigade in Vincenza Italy, and a lightly armed Stryker Brigade in Southern Germany. THEN THE RUSSIANS INVADED UKRAINE and ANNEXED CRIMEA IN FEBRUARY/MARCH 2014. This forced the United States to do a complete 180 on its troop levels and redeployments. U.S. Main Battle Tanks swiftly came back to Europe. Now the United States has multiple heavy armored Brigades and Battalions stationed in Eastern Europe in countries like Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Romania where they had NEVER been stationed before. This is thanks to the Russians actions of 2014 and the grave threat they posed to NATO and the rest of the world.

The Warsaw Pact was a group of slave countries under the domination of the Soviet Union, put together as a symbolic response to NATO. It was created after NATO and its disbandment in the 1990s has nothing to do with why NATO exists and why it should continue to exist.
NATO exists to facilitate US arm$$ales and prop up the US dollar as a global reserve currency, essentially requiring foreign states to pay for the US Empire:

Dollar Recycling | Michael Hudson

"My book 'Super Imperialism' was about how the United States has gained a free lunch by establishing the dollar as international reserve currency by replacing gold.

"I also showed that the U.S. balance of payments deficit is almost entirely military related to support its 800 bases around the world.

"Ending the gold-exchange standard in 1971 created a situation in which the excess U.S. dollars thrown off by the U.S. payments deficit end up in foreign central banks."

As I stated before, most NATO countries do not use United States military equipment for their major weapon systems such as Main Battle Tanks, Armored Personal Carriers, Artillery, Attack Helicopters or Combat Aircraft.

1. For example, the United States uses the M1 Main Battle Tank. How many other NATO countries use the M1 Main Battle Tank? ZERO. Most NATO countries use the German Leopard II Main Battle Tank.

2. The United States uses the M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle for its infantry. How many other NATO country's use the M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle? ZERO

Some exceptions would be the British use of the Apache Attack Helicopter and the new U.S. F-35 combat aircraft. For the most part though, NATO Europe produces its own military equipment or uses military equipment made by other European countries.

Those U.S. bases prevented World War III, the destruction of all life on the planet, prevented Soviet Communism from taking over the world, and continue to this day to bring stability to the world and the global economy
How's that "stability" working out in Iraq and Syria? Since 1945 the US has been the greatest purveyor of violence on the planet. It is the only country responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent civilians on the opposite side of the world. That was (is being) done to ensure 4% of the world's population controls 25% of global wealth. In case you haven't noticed, the stability of the global economy is currently being propped up by central banks bailing out the FIRE sector:

America’s Path To A FIRE Economy

Working out pretty good in both Iraq and Syria. ISIS has been crushed in both states. Iraq is producing vast sums of oil for the global market. Iraq is no longer a state looking to invade and annex its neighbors as it was under SADDAM. It now functions more as a U.S. friend and Ally which is a complete 180 of where it was under Saddam. Syria continues to be a Russian client state as it has been for decades, but now it is much weaker.

The United States saved the world from World War III, Soviet Communism, and aggressive Rogue States. The United States is the #1 reason why the standard of living on the planet and life expectancy is the highest it has ever been in human history. We live in a World created by Franklin Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman, and for the past 75 years, it has largely advanced in the right direction.

Again, its not about how much you spend, but how much raw military capability you actually have in terms of troops, equipment and the quality and performance of those troops and equipment.
How would you rate Russian capability to invade the US versus a US/NATO invasion of Ukraine? If Russia had as many bases in Mexico and Canada as the US has in Europe and Asia, would that justify a declaration of war?

The United States and NATO are not set up for and would never consider invading Ukraine which is a friend of NATO and has supported U.S. missions in Iraq and Afghanistan despite not being a member of NATO.

Prior to the Russian invasion and annexation of Crimea in 2014, there were NO NATO troops stationed in Eastern European Countries that were apart of NATO. The nearest United States ground combat unit to Ukraine was nearly 600 miles away from Ukraine's border. Compare that to Russian troops stationed just across the border from Estonia and Latvia, as well Russian troops stationed in the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad just across the border from Poland. Sorry but there is no comparison at all.

NATO is not in any position to invade Russia and it is struggling to come up with a plan to defend the Baltic States, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, from a potential Russian invasion.

The United States has bases all over the world because countries want us there protected the global system that was created after World War II.
After WWII the US had 4% of the world's people and half of the world's wealth. Every foreign policy initiative since then has more to do with maintaining that imperial advantage than with promoting democracy or human rights.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hegemony_or_Survival#:~:text=Chomsky's%20main%20argument%20in%20Hegemony,%2C%20political%2C%20and%20economic%20means.

"Chomsky's main argument in Hegemony or Survival is that the socio-economic elite who control the United States have pursued an 'Imperial Grand Strategy' since the end of World War II to maintain global hegemony through military, political, and economic means.

"He argues that in doing so they have repeatedly shown a total disregard for democracy and human rights, in stark contrast to the US government's professed support for those values.

"He further argues that this continual pursuit of global hegemony threatens the existence of humanity itself because of the increasing proliferation of weapons of mass destruction."

The United States rebuilt Europe, Japan, Russia, China, after World War II. The United States today has 25% of the worlds wealth because of its advanced economy and productive society. The United States helps the rest of the world maintain their economies, improve their standard of living, while preventing Rogue nations from committing the same actions and crimes that the AXIS powers did in World War II. The world is better off today than it has ever been thanks to U.S. leadership, support, organization and aid from the United States military in maintaining global stability.

Which country poses the greatest threat to global peace?
Who gets rich from that?

The US Military Has Its Knee on the Throat of the World
by ELLEN TAYLOR"

"As Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, observed, 'The character of war is changing frequency'.

"The messy, scrappy, unsatisfying, asymmetrical wars in the devastated Middle East have lost the interest of our warriors, as two worthier adversaries, China and Russia, have been conjured up, and now grip their attention.

"Although our budget comprises over 40% of the world’s military spending, and China and Russia spend respectively one-sixth and one-tenth of ours, the Pentagon refers to them generously as “near-peers”.;)

"China and Russia are not eager for these roles.

"We have had to torment them, like reluctant bulls in a bullfight.

"We sail our warships within twelve miles of their shores, conducting vast military exercises in the South China Sea, the Black Sea, the Persian Gulf and the Japan Sea.

"Thousands of US troops marched across Europe this spring to perform military exercises along Russia’s borders.

"Arleigh-Burke class guided missile destroyers, with aerial escort, performed maneuvers this May, close to the Russian coast in the Barents Sea, to enforce 'freedom of navigation'".

Time to defund the Pentagon?
You're not fooling anyone george, the United States has defeated the left wing agitators around the world and your post is nothing more than a surrender with the hopes that the lefts last gasp effort to stop us is here at home by making surrender look inviting to us instead of you.

the north has had 70 years to recover and has that natural resources that the south lacks
70 years of economic sanctions and military "exercises" on its southern border courtesy of the greatest purveyor of violence in the world. How could any economy prosper under those conditions?

There would be no "North" or "South" Korea today if the US had not prevented free elections in 1945.

Period.

military "exercises" on its southern border

Boohoo.

They were communists and we would be crazy to allow the Soviet Union to spread communism to all of korea
During WWII it was Korean communists who fought against Imperial Japan.
The Koreans' ally was Russian and Chinese communists.
Russian troops liberated parts of Korea weeks before US troops landed at Inchon.
Communists would have won free elections in 1945 because they earned the votes of a majority of the countrymen and women.
The US had no right to interfere, yet that is exactly what happened.
