LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Three people have been arrested while six juveniles will also face charges in Lenoir County stemming from the brutal assault of a teenager that has gone viral on social media.

The Lenoir County sheriff’s office has charged 18-year-old Ashton Clark of Lenoir County with felony assault by strangulation and conspiracy. 19-year-old Landon Harris of Pitt County is charged with cyberbullying and conspiracy. A 17-year-old juvenile has been charged with felony assault by strangulation and conspiracy, and six additional juveniles have been identified and will be charged with offenses ranging from assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault, and conspiracy.

The sheriff’s office says the incident stemmed from a dispute between juveniles and, at this time, the investigation doesn’t appear to be racially motivated.

The 16-year-old teen who was attacked is Black, according to a family member who spoke to WITN. His attackers were white, according to the video.

The attack happened on May 24th outside of Grifton in Lenoir County.

There are three different clips.

In the first one, the group is around a bonfire and what appears to be at least one liquor bottle is seen. A girl with long dark hair sucker-punched the victim and another follows the victim and takes him down to the ground.

A second video shows the teen in a choke-hold on the ground for a length of time as others also hit him, and a camera phone is put in front of his face. He’s eventually released and is holding his face before trying to stand.

A third video shows the victim in a chokehold by a different teen, who eventually lets him go as a girl repeatedly tells him to release the victim. The victim appears stunned and unresponsive on the ground after being released.

The family member says the teen has several broken teeth and ruptured blood vessels in the attack. They say the video was posted in a group chat that the victim was a member of.

The victim has left the area with everything that is going on, said the family member, and he’s continuing to receive medical care.

Clark was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Harris was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a $2,500 secured bond.

The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to a secure juvenile detention facility. All juveniles will be processed through the juvenile justice system.

The investigation remains active and ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers has scheduled a news conference for Friday to talk more about the case and arrests.

Would this black kid had been justified if he pulled a gun and started firing.

Would we hear why did this kid bring a knife or a gun to a bonfire.

Your post says it was not a racially motivated attack. Your troll is fundamentally flawed, dummy.

Don't see any video.

Do see a few still pics from a possible video.

Also, from the still pics it looks like all involved were white to me.

That was the best he could do on a Sunday, I guess.

Immediately sucker punched,, then choked and beaten nearly unconsious, broken teeth... is it just me or is this ABSOLUTLEY nothing like what happened to Karmelo Anthony?

In this case if the boy pulled a knife to defend himself or another weapon I would be all for the boy defending himself. Based on this information if true... which it looks like its so.

The minors should be charged and tried as adults, and if convicted, given the maximum punishment.

The parents should be charged as well.

It is beyond time we start getting our youth in check.

Whites go around black areas every day and are not robbed or killed, that is just a racist lie you are spewing.
but black men are killed by other black men everyday at far larger numbers and you make excuses for them everytime,,

why do you hate black people so much??

Someone else can answer those hypotheticals.

Those assailants need to have bruises from the books that will be thrown at them.

That's a stupid argument.

If your chances are 5 times greater, even if the probabiliy is still low......it's an issue.
