Mortgage rates were too low. Hopefully as those rise, banks will back off credit card rates some to help people out. There was no way 2.5% 30 year mortgages were ever going to even keep pace with inflation. The only thing the lenders could hope for was for people to idiotically refinance to pay off their swelling credit card debt. Capital One financed a car for me at less than 2.5% but then started sending me all these "great offers" for credit cards at 20+% based on my superprime credit score. It is a counter-intuitive world we live in these days.

Sorry champ. The oil industries shut down a huge percent of production world wide due to the covid shut down and record low prices for crude oil in early 2020. Long before Joe became the nominee. Demand spiked when economies restarted. World wide production did not return to meet the rising demand and prices began to rise in 2020 as well.
