SS is one of the greatest things we have ever done for our citizens. Most retired people depend upon it to survive during retirement. At least the hard working ones who worked for peanuts their whole lives. Most of the construction workers that retired from my business(carpenters) have earned and are entitled to their SS. That must be protected at all costs. Even tinkering with SS equals a loss in the election. Its a win win for the whole country.
[*]Why should "we" do anything for our citizens? That is not the roll of government. There is a word for that "we do for" mentality - it's called communism and it never works.
- Why am I supposed to care that "most retired people depend on it"? Their failure to properly plan for their retirement is not societies problem.
- Social Security is, and has always been, a lose-lose for the entire country. It's the world's worst Ponzi Scheme and it is insolvent.
I will agree, however, that anyone who has paid into it has earned it and it must be provided to them at all costs.
E pluribus unum
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
E Pluribus Unum included in the Great Seal of the United States, being one of the nation's mottos at the time of the seal's creation.
E pluribus unum (/ˈiː ˈplʊərɨbəs ˈuːnəm/; Latin: [ˈeː ˈpluːrɪbʊs ˈuːnũː])—Latin for "Out of many, one"[1][2] (alternatively translated as "One out of many"[3] or "One from many")[4]—is a phrase on the Seal of the United States, along with Annuit cœptis (Latin for "He approves (has approved) of the undertaking") and Novus ordo seclorum, (Latin for "New Order of the Ages") and adopted by an Act of Congress in 1782.[2] Never codified by law, E pluribus unum was considered a de facto motto of the United States[citation needed] until 1956 when the United States Congress passed an act (H. J. Resolution 396), adopting "In God We Trust" as the official motto
Dog, they put it right on the seal of the United States. Out of many, one.
They should of had you around then dog. You would have set them straight. None of that many one shit. We don't need to all be looking out for one another. That helping each other out is for pussies. They needed you dog.
But why did they (the 1782 Congress) put that motto on the seal?
Later the "In God We Trust" was for the religious/commie hating folk. Hell maybe when In God We Tryst came to be, people were already down the road of looking out just for yourself. 1956 was when the commie witch hunts were going on. Couldn't trust anybody then either.
