Universal Healthcare question for everyone

I do, and so do you. I still work. my wife is retired. Our combined in come is around $125K. Last year, our combined tax burden was 20%
So you do pay for it? Via your taxes.

Yes, I do. But when something comes up, I know it will be treated and not bankrupt me. How much do you pay in taxes and health insurance? Include what your employer also pays in health insurance. We get better service and outcomes for less money.

Taxes about 50%
About $30k per employee in insurance premiums

It’s nuts. We suck

Apologies if I missed it somewhere among the 265+ posts/14 pages here;
- BUT -

One of a few major factors most to all of you have failed to consider or mention when it comes to escalating medical care and medical insurance costs in the USA is;

MALPRACTICE INSURANCE !!!

On top of the education, office, staff, equipment, supplies,etc. co$t$ to practice medicine in the USA, the one HUGE factor in skyrocketing medical care and medical care insurance costs has been the burden of "Medical Malpractice Insurance" !!!

And if you want to "blame" someone/something on this than look towards the Lawyers and our Civil Suit Legal(Justice) System as main contributing agents/sources to exponential growth of medical care costs.

It is often said that medicine is more art than science and to some perspectives this is true. Any procedure has percentages of successful and didn't work out"; for a variety of factors outside of the practitioners knowledge or ability to alter~deal with. There is a certain level of "roll of the dice" involved.

Unfortunately, here in the USA, if things didn't go well enough to the patients satisfaction there is the courts ~civil suits~and no shortage of lawyers(sharks) ready to take the case and seek huge "damages" for their 'client' and their 10-20+% cut!

There is the major system/process for the huge growth in medical care expense and insurance costs, it is the "Malpractice insurance industry" that doctors/clinics/hospitals must pay to avoid being bankrupt via a civil suit/court case against them for not beating the adverse odds that any medical procedure has.

I'll try to go into this in more detail later (maybe even start a separate~focused thread), but leave it open for others to input for now (I've other more urgent tasks to attend).

That is why I advocated that people looking to save money on medical care should set up a private contract with a doctor and pay him a flat fee for each person in his family to get one physical exam per year. The doctor would jump at it because there would be no dealing with a reluctant insurance company and you could save a good bit. Then you could get a high deductible insurance policy for catastrophic care and save again.

Note that this would have been illegal had Hillarycare, aka Hillary Clinton's attempt to socialize American medicine, succeeded.

More personal choice. Less government. More incentive for Americans to live healthy lifestyles.

Possibly small groupings of people and doctors that are willing to limit malpractice awards in exchange for sane and affordable health care.

The medical people who appear on RAV and OANN tend to be very good.

It starts with a desire to push back on big government and push Americans to care for themselves, the exact opposite of W's socialization of senior drugs, which not only pushes more seniors on drugs they do not need, it incentivizes $$$ fraud, getting prescribed pills that are given to grandson and sold at the local high school.

The less government, the better the healthcare.

For once you are spot on.

One solution is for a local partnership of private doctors and groups of people willing to limit malpractice awards in exchange for better more affordable care.

If we let government and lawyers control healthcare, we get screwed every way possible.

One place where churches can really help, in small groupings of people dedicated to living healthy lifestyles.

I am a husband and father. I provide for my family. That’s the epitome of being a man. Just because I call you out on your bullshit doesn’t make me childish.

No, that you do it in a childish way makes you childish.

LOL - no. Insurance companies sought to insert themselves as profit-skimming middlemen on every single health care transaction. And our government willingly colluded with them in that effort.

The government is responsible for all your unhappiness in life, aren't they?

You post ridiculous crap. You deserve everything I give. What gives me the most joy is when you report me. Thank you for that.

What kind of incentive?

That exists. As one example, One Medical is $99/year with a Prime membership.
