Unfortunately, Liberal Keep Being Liberals

Marquette is a private, Jesuit university.

If you have a problem with Professor Abbate, maybe you should take it to Marquette.

Maybe you should to a private business employing anyone they want.

Maybe you should object to a Catholic business employing anyone they want.

I get your point, commie.
Too bad you don't have an American perspective.

So, once again, you want Big Government to control private enterprise.

Doesn't sound like "an American perspective" to me.

Even the Washington Post recognized the Nazi-like atmosphere at the Liberal institution.

Watch how the WaPo rips the actions of Marquette, and every Liberal in this thread:

14. "... those actions strikes me as quite improper. Marquette is a private university, and thus not bound by the First Amendment; and Wisconsin is not one of the states that generally restricts private employer retaliation based on an employee’s speech.

Still, Marquette frames itself as a university that respects academic freedom and free speech rights. Acting this way towards a faculty member who publicly expresses his opinions on an important issue, including when the issue involves what he sees as improper suppression of student views by a colleague, stifles that freedom.

It not only deters faculty speech critical of colleagues, but it also tends to suppress student speech critical of faculty, and student and faculty speech on controversial subjects more broadly.

If you knew that criticizing a teacher this way could lead even a senior tenured faculty member to be suspended from teaching and ordered off campus, would you as a junior faculty member feel comfortable criticizing homosexuality or gay rights? Would you as a student feel comfortable criticizing homosexuality or gay rights, or criticizing instructors who you think are intolerant of certain student views on ethics and politics?

.... Marquette seems to be behaving quite badly here." Marquette suspends prof 8217 s teaching orders him off campus - The Washington Post

And that is exactly what this thread is about, and what the thread has shown.

So....we have seen today how all of you good little Liberals vote for indoctrination over education.....and the demise of the late, great experiment that was America.

What was being done to that graduate student teaching that class was based on a lie fraudulently perpetuated under the guise of freedom of speech. The way the student taped the after class meeting makes me think it was planned in advance, with perhaps some collusion on the suspended teachers part.

The only lie here is yours.

This is what Liberalism has done to America.

They understood what happened....only you don't.

What a stupid post.

But....that's your specialty.

The notion that liberals are not Americans is probably the most retarded idea I've heard in my entire life. Get a life, chickie.

Comments about everything except the point: Liberals are out to prevent any discussion or debate about their dictums.
Afraid to draw the obvious conclusion that Liberals like nothing better than censoring opposing views.....and no where is this less appropriate than in universities???

The professor is a douchebag.

However, do you have anything other than anecdotes to conclude that liberals broadly don't want any discussion or debate about their beliefs such that any reasonable person would conclude that they are tantamount to Nazis or communists?

I'm trying to differentiate the professor's over-reaction and yours. I'm not seeing any.

And per the title....that means not being Americans.

Seems to raise hackles when I point out that Liberalism is simply one more iteration of the totalitarian political persuasion.
And, yes, I do mean that Liberalism belongs in the same family with communism, socialism, Nazism, etc.

And no, I don't mean that Liberalism is about gulags and concentration camps, FDR's efforts toward the Japanese notwithstanding, because the American version is suffused through, and extenuated by, America's history.

"The excesses of the European versions of fascism were mitigated by the specific history and culture of America, Jeffersonian individualism, heterogeneity of the population, but the central theme is still an all-encompassing state that centralizes power to perfect human nature by controlling every aspect of life., albeit at the loss of what had hitherfore been accepted as ‘inalienable human rights.’"
Jonah Goldberg

Modern Liberalism is not guided by such American concepts as unalienable rights.
Liberalism, and institutions pervaded by its tenets, accept the silencing of those with opposing views.

Yes, they do.
Most especially universities, the monasteries of Liberalism....as you will find below.

1. " Marquette Philosophy Instructor: “Gay Rights” Can’t Be Discussed in Class Since Any Disagreement Would Offend Gay Students

2. A student ... in a philosophy class (“Theory of Ethics”), and the instructor (one Cheryl Abbate) was attempting to apply a philosophical text to modern political controversies. ...She listed some issues on the board, and came to “gay rights.”

She then airily said that “everybody agrees on this, and there is no need to discuss it.”

3. The student, a conservative who disagrees with some of the gay lobby’s notions of “gay rights” (such as gay marriage).... told Abbate that if she dismisses an entire argument because of her personal views, that sets a terrible precedent for the class.

4. The student argued against gay marriage and gay adoption, ... Abbate made some plausible arguments to the student — pointing out that single people can adopt a child, so why not a gay couple? She even asked the student for research showing that children of gay parents do worse than children of straight, married parents. The student said he would provide it.

5. Abbate explained that “some opinions are not appropriate, such as racist opinions, sexist opinions” and then went on to ask “do you know if anyone in your class is homosexual?” And further “don’t you think it would be offensive to them” if some student raised his hand and challenged gay marriage?

The point being, apparently that any gay classmates should not be subjected to hearing any disagreement with their presumed policy views.

6. .... as the student said that it was his right as an American citizen to make arguments against gay marriage. Abbate replied that “you don’t have a right in this class to make homophobic comments.”

She further said she would “take offense” if the student said that women can’t serve in particular roles. And she added that somebody who is homosexual would experience similar offense if somebody opposed gay marriage in class.

She went on “In this class, homophobic comments, racist comments, will not be tolerated.”

She then invited the student to drop the class."

Actually we created civilization, you're the ones who keep trying to go back to the caves, or the plantations because the ******* were so much better off then.

How can "liberals" not want any debate on their beliefs if not all liberals agree on the same thing? 1 in 5 liberals don't agree with gay marriage.

That implies that 80% do agree. So again, what was your point?

That her argument that liberals brook no dissent is a logical fallacy.

Clearly, since 100% of liberals don't agree on gay marriage, there is dissent amongst liberals.

"I'm not seeing any."

I'm responsible for what I post, not for the lack of comprehension you evince, as a result of your biases.

The professor is both courageous and correct.
In the thread, I've given not only the case of the university employee forbidding any exchange of opinion beyond that advanced by the Liberal agenda, but included the administration of the university taking the very livelihood of anyone....the professor....who dares to make the Liberal fascism known.

But...in the vain hope that yours was an honest post.....I will post more on this case.

As can be seen in the thread, Liberals are destroyers of freedom.

The conservative student should be allowed to express her views even if it offends others. Universities should be bastions of free thought, not straight jackets of political correctness. It's appalling that liberal universities would shackle discussion because they don't want someone's feelings hurt.

But you undermine your argument with your outlandish extremism.

Why not make the thread about ONE individual who happened to do this, instead of making a wholly indefensible argument that this one individual's actions are representative of liberalism in general?

Clearly, since 100% of liberals don't agree on gay marriage, there is dissent amongst liberals.

No liberals on this forum have attempted to prevent her from keeping this thread up and thus making her argument,

so there are, what, a hundred times as many examples disproving her assertion as she provided in making it.

Of course, we need more tolerance at universities as we see at the conservative ones.

As an excellent example, Bob Jones University:

That a reasonable post....

As for my style.....I have no intention of becoming wishy-washy.
As far as 'extreme'....nonsense.
You've agreed with the OP.....we both agree it is the truth, and that is the purpose of all of my posts.

And speaking of the truth....the hatred of that noble trait is the explanation for the penalties heaped on the student featured in the OP, and the professor, McAdams.

15. Since Liberalism has infected what are jokingly referred to as 'institutions of higher learning,' they have become both theatres of indoctrination....and receded to lower levels of learning.

Professor McAdams' travails are just one part of the problem....his difficulties stem from his attempts to rebut the lies...as seen here:

Earlier, McAdams was widely attacked by Liberal professors....is that redundant?....for exposing the Liberal lie that male predators are lurking around every corner.... "One in five women are sexually assaulted during college." (One In Four Women Will Be Raped Before Graduating College

This is one of those professors:

"Roberta Coles, a professor of sociology at Marquette who has been critical of McAdams, said, “it has been a series of incidents [...] not just this one with Ms. Abbate. She’s just the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak.”

Coles didn’t elaborate, but McAdams often discusses controversial issues on his blog, including how he faced a complaint last year after discussing “bogus” rape statistics in his class.

“We point out that feminists insist that if a woman consents to sex under the influence of alcohol, she has been raped,” McAdams wrote. “We typically add ‘if you wake up in the morning and ask, ‘what in the world did I do?’ ” you haven’t been raped. If you’ve been raped you feel violated. If it requires a feminist political activist to explain to you how what happened was rape, you weren’t raped.’” Marquette suspends prof 8217 s teaching orders him off campus - The Washington Post
