On Feb. 2022 - Ukraine held more then 14,000 ATM's (incl. around 8000 Javelins from the USA) in their ever growing arsenal.
As such it was even very amazing to notice, Russia attacking in a WWII style with masses of tanks and APC's/AFV's, without having provided sufficient air cover and ground strike capabilities. BTW, on Feb. 2022 Ukraine also held more then 5000 Man-pads.

So some 14,000+ ATM's and some 5000+ Man-pads, fielded by an Army that had barley 80,000 combat regulars on Feb. 2022. !!!!

As such it lends credibility to Putin's claim, that NATO/Ukraine was planing for an offensive action in 2022 or in the near future.
In return it also lends credible support, that Ukraine/NATO, were clearly expecting larger Russian attacks onto Ukraine since 2014.

It absolutely can't be denied, that NATO/Ukraine had been preparing to attack Russian held territory in Ukraine - thus ending up with Ukraine becoming a NATO member. The exact same had happened with Croatia - NATO beefing them up for 5 years - then Croatia attacked. and defeated Serbian held positions in Croatia.

And ONLY this persistent NATO encroachment of Russia - aka "Eastward Expansion" since 1990, is the entire and sole reason for this idiotic war. Totally independent of liking or not liking Putin.

Not really, since they refused a peoples plebiscite, and Crimea was NEVER Ukrainian territory, but a political gesture of the USSR.

Jelzin had agreed to Ukrainian independence in 1990/1 under the pretext of the founding members, Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus to form an economic and military union aka CIS. If Ukraine has not, or did not sign, or has breached this agreement (which they, Ukraine did in 1993) - Russia isn't obliged to anything in regards to Ukraine.

However the US took advantage of this dispute (Clinton) to get their hands into Ukraine - as such "negotiating" the Nuke return/disassembly of Russian nukes stationed in Ukraine. Even then Russia never officially acquitted to this "sovereign" Ukraine of 1991. But signed together with the USA and the UK, to act as guarantors for Ukraine's national integrity.

And this national integrity was "questioned" or factually REFUTED by Russia upon the Maidan Revolution 2013/14 - with the acting Ukrainian President Yanukovych fleeing to Russia. !!!!
