Javelins or any ATM isn't just defensive, but is also used in an offensive mode, just as any other military battle system.
During the Cold-war, NATO e.g. Germany had declared it's 5000 MBT's as a DEFENSIVE force - despite the NATO "forward strategy" in the 80'ies.
On Feb. 2022 - Ukraine held more then
14,000 ATM's (incl. around 8000 Javelins from the USA) in their ever growing arsenal.
As such it was even very amazing to notice, Russia attacking in a WWII style with masses of tanks and APC's/AFV's, without having provided sufficient air cover and ground strike capabilities. BTW, on Feb. 2022 Ukraine also held more then
5000 Man-pads.
So some 14,000+ ATM's and some 5000+ Man-pads, fielded by an Army that had barley 80,000 combat regulars on Feb. 2022. !!!!
As such it lends credibility to Putin's claim, that NATO/Ukraine was planing for an offensive action in 2022 or in the near future.
In return it also lends credible support, that Ukraine/NATO, were clearly expecting larger Russian attacks onto Ukraine since 2014.
