Saddam was setting back the Iranian jihad for years. If we had let him have that imaginary and useless country of Kuwait, he would have used its oil loot to further set back the Shiites.
Saddam was also producing over his quota of oil, which frustrated OPEC's and American Oil's price-gouging and benefited the economy during the Reagan and Clinton Administration.
