'Two dolls instead of 30': Trump acknowledges prices will force consumers to cut back

This sounds like something a Socialist would say. You have to make do with less for the greater good. Trump ran on inflation and high prices. Now, he's telling everyone to prepare for more.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Wednesday acknowledged that his tariffs could result in fewer and costlier products in the United States, saying American kids might “have two dolls instead of 30 dolls,” but he insisted China will suffer more from his trade war.

The Republican president has tried to reassure a nervous country that his tariffs will not provoke a recession, after a new government report showed the U.S. economy shrank during the first three months of the year.

Reading your posts sounds like something aa socialist would say.

Yep, and I brought this up about a week ago. Nobody wants to work in a factory. It's a shit job. Instead of trying to bring 19th century sweatshops back to the USA, we should leave that stuff to the Third World, demand better quality controls from them, and revamp our education system to focus on the jobs of tomorrow. We should be leading the worlds, not rolling back the clock.
I have no problem working in a factory...the pay and benefits are good plus here no silly union to rob me.
Speak for yourself.

If you think it's bad now, let's just wait until we're in some kind of a conflict with China and they stop all goods coming to the US, then all of you idiots would be screaming that enough wasn't done to eliminate our dependance on them, or substitute China for any other country we have large trade deficits with. The simple fact is that it doesn't matter what Trump does, you will be against it, and that makes your opinion on anything he does totally irrelevant. :dunno: I seriously come here every day for a good laugh to see what all of you TDS idiots are spouting for the day, great comedy.
...but he's an independent calling us the socialist.....

Today "good pay" is north of $35 per hour. Anything less is, well, meh.

This is our punishment for 80 years of horrible economic decisions… forgiving the WWII debts of these other nations; rebuilding those nations; protecting the Western world on our dime; allowing outmrvtechnology to be spread abroad; deficit spending; funding the UN and all its crap; etc…

We brought this on ourselves and now it’s timectomosybthe piper.

Maybe you don't like working in a factory but there are many folks that do.

So I take it you prefer cleaning the bathrooms at the Bunny Ranch instead?

Factory work is shit work. Been there, done that, sold the T-Shirt. Had it not been for the Great Lakes Region being crippled by the EPA and dimocraps in general, I might well still be there. By now, retired, raking in an excellent retirement and probably about now coming back from my Winter Home in Florida.

I worked down here, in Florida, wearing a Suit and Tie for 30 years and you know what? It's even worse. My wife worked in an Office that required a skirt and nylonss and she didn't mind it but -- I'm not a woman. Nothing against women, I love them. But I am not one.

Working in a factory surrounded by other men, hanging out, having a beer after work, playing Baseball or Football on the weekends, raising decent kids (before the great Northern migration) having a nice house in a nice neighborhood or --

Wearing a Jacket and Tie every day, having to pretend you don't want to kill the Soy Boy in the next Office, being accused of looking too closely at a very plain female co-worker, climbing over each other like Rats trying to get to the cheese first, living unfulfilling, unhappy, unrewarding lives....... I did it because dimocrap scum had killed factories. And the Cities and towns where they were located.

I survived but I didn't like it. I'll take a Factory Job every time.

Buy what you need now...if it is from China. YT said in a couple weeks things may start drying up at Walmart and Amazon.

Trump fake news.webp

That attitude is going to sink countless small businesses.

Farmers are sinking, and now Trump is targeting the backbone of America.

What a total dick.

What does that say about your political party? In a Country that was left-of-center at the time, an unqualified, 'unfit' felon crushed your candidate in a free and fair election. Bigly.

Is that like when you went home and had to tell your parents that you got beat up by the little girl down the street? Again? :auiqs.jpg:

You people just don't know when to shut up

Tariffs on aluminum and steel, coffee and multiple fruits are going to cost me. The aluminum and steel tariffs will raise costs for domestic products as well that use them.

Instead of reciting insipid phrases, why don't you come down from your virtue signaling tower and explain "the jobs of tomorrow?" Do you really think that our entire population can, or wants to, be computer analysts? You are the one who seems to have the 19th century view that Euro-Americans shouldn't have to do the lesser work that others are consigned to.

I value all productive labor, especially from those who work up a sweat while doing it. I find that the class distinctions based on higher education rather than practical knowledge are artificial and self serving political devices. Those who follow these beliefs are now learning new lessons the hard way.

I heard the quote, which I believe is completely accurate, that over 80% of Americans want more goods manufactured in the U.S., and 20% of Americans want to pursue employment in the manufacturing of these goods.

That's the reality of Trump's message. We all know that there are no real economists talking to Trump, and even if so, he would not understand a word of it.
Anyone who wants to work in a factory can walk out their door and get one anytime they want. They’re hiring.

There aren’t enough people who want to to fill the openings there are now….
