No one FORCED companies to outsource their labor.
No one FORCED companies to outsource their labor.

True

The US companies could have declared bankruptcy instead

He wasn't wrong though. People are made of tougher stuff than the realize. Only people emotionally dependent on politics don't realize we will be fine either way.
This is exactly opposite from what you people were saying just a year ago

Sure.......... if that's true, why does Trump want to bring all the companies back to the US?
Only for them to go bankrupt.

I brought this up a couple of years ago, but I didn't expect a President would force the issue.

If we don't magically turn this around -- and we all know we aren't -- and if we want the dollar to retain its status as the reserve currency, we're going to have to jack taxes and fees up like crazy. Almost certainly they'll have to go after corporations too. Ultimately that will probably lead to a lower general standard of living across the board. Not abject poverty for all, but a smaller big screen TV, a smaller car, fewer goodies.

Odds right now are 50/50. And neither party will be able to (honestly) just point the finger at the other in blame. Both parties kept saying WE JUST CAN'T KEEP DOING THIS and they just kept fucking doing it. And we kept re-electing them. This is what our political/electoral "system" (ha) has allowed. And the deck hands keep pointing the finger at each other while the Titanic continues to sink.

They will go bankrupt if we allow low priced chinese imports to undercut US brands as happened before

Thats what tariffs prevent

Corporate greed and governmental coercion is a hell of a drug...
Americans were naive after Nixon visited china

Many people believed that trade with china would lift that country out of poverty with no harm to us

600 million chinese were lifted but at great cost to American workers

Plus, westerners thought or expected the CCP to morph into a democratic movement

But it didnt

The US brands don't exist without imports.
When are we supposed to start building factories without the materials to build them?
We don't manufacture the materials, so you have to build a plant for that.
Where are we supposed to get the materials for that?

It's an endless loop.
Thats what tariffs prevent

It was indeed a huge miscalculation, and a DUMB mistake. You cannot make a "fair deal" with communists. They essentially sold us out for a pipe-dream, and a side of financial GREED for cheap labor. The outcome has become terrible. Whether that was intentional or not is debatable....

This sounds like something a Socialist would say. You have to make do with less for the greater good. Trump ran on inflation and high prices. Now, he's telling everyone to prepare for more.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Wednesday acknowledged that his tariffs could result in fewer and costlier products in the United States, saying American kids might “have two dolls instead of 30 dolls,” but he insisted China will suffer more from his trade war.

The Republican president has tried to reassure a nervous country that his tariffs will not provoke a recession, after a new government report showed the U.S. economy shrank during the first three months of the year.

I willing to pay more for goods that are made in the USA. They will likely be of a higher quality and create American jobs.
We have to stop our reliance on Chinese slave labor. They have a larger navy than we do and we cannot keep up with them in ship production. That alone is a disgrace and a real threat to national security.

I put my money where my mouth is and just bought a Speed Queen washer and dryer set. They cost a lot more than foreign made appliances, but I expect to get 20 years out of them and they were made in the USA.

Well, thank God we have you to spread the dishonest spin....

Bought my wife a set last year....Those are built to last man....Heavy duty parts.

Are you speaking of the F35?
Them too.

European components in the F-35

Many other countries contribute to the F-35. The fighter jets are built with participation from Australia, the Netherlands, Canada, Italy, Denmark, and Norway. Japan builds many of the components for its own aircraft, while Leonardo built some wings in Italy. The British/Italian contractor Selex ES recently received a contract for 165 advanced targeting lasers for the F-35 Lightning II's Electro-Optical Targeting System.

Most all of them.

You mean Americans will have live within their means instead of creating debt for the poor girls that have two dolls instead of thirty?

How heartless of him. The bastard!
