No theory. The coup was attempted. It never got pulled off because there actually was no collusion between Trump and Russia (a primary contention of certain highly placed FBI, DOJ and intelligence agency members).

The Clintons were business partners with the guy that went to jail for Whitewater, Web Hubbell, who "mysteriously" died before he could get an immunity deal.
