I think if you knew me in person, and had the opprotunity to ask my friends about me, I'd like to think they'd tell you that my wife and I are actually kind of cool people...I'm the type of guy that will come over and help out with projects, and things that my friends need help on...We throw a July 4th party every year with about 30 or so friends, complete with cookout, pool party, and fireworks....And out of all of that I am not one that talks politics constantly...Many of my friends can tell you that when those conversations arise, I listen, offer my opinions, but am open to hearing opposing viewpoints...

So, don't always be so quick to take this place as what any of us are like in real life. It isn't. This place borders on toxic.. Every discussion usually devolves into name calling, bickering, and outrageous views, and expressions that many would never say to a person face to face...Remember that.

I meet situations with like response...You want civility, and discussion, I would embrace that, but you have to commit to it...

it is sad you are right. Having lived with a few people who lived under communism in the '40s to '70s, I find that people are able to find joy in hardship once they know there is no way out.
