I wonder if any (and I literally mean "any") Trumpsters have had it dawn on them that this spectacularly stupid episode in the Middle East would have even occurred if we were further down the road on clean, renewable energies. Not dependent on oil.

See, clean renewable energy is not just about energy generation or "global warming". It's about economics. It's about national security. It's about protecting our way of life. AS WE ARE SEEING, RIGHT NOW.

The response/excuse I've seen is that it's too expensive and too far away. But that just demonstrates that these people are not keeping up with -- wait for it -- science. We are making BIG strides in both energy generation and energy storage, being driven largely by the energy-hungry AI buildout. And yes, part of this could include nuclear, and small-scale companies like OKLO are leading the way in creating devices for individual companies.

Imagine if we had made this a higher priority all this time. Imagine if we had gathered all the best minds and companies from around the globe to work on this together. Imagine if people were not staying in the way because it conflicts with their shallow partisan political worldview. The world might not give two craps about the Strait of Hormuz.

We're very close now. It's about economics and national security. Are we going to learn anything from this stupid war, or not?

Around 90% of renewables cheaper than fossil fuels worldwide

Yes,
This is because, unlike the 1900, the oil industry has more resources than the horse and buggy industry.
In 1900 the horse industry spread their narrative about automobile dangers
They left out the problems of horses in crowded cities

I don't think any American government will voluntarily pass on prime predator ranking.

Sep 7, 2025 — Renewables now make up over half of China's power generation capacity. Coal and peat. Other fossil. Other non-renewable. Solar. Wind. Hydropower.

Feb 13, 2026 — With 73 GW more clean capacity than fossil fuel capacity in use, China now has 51% of its power fleet drawing from clean sources and joins the the ranks of Brazil, France and Germany as major economies powered mainly by clean energy sources.

Mar 31, 2026 — China is the top buyer of oil passing through the Strait. It's also the most prepared to do without that oil.

Beijing has unofficially banned fuel exports to conserve supplies, the country is nonetheless more insulated than many of its neighbours thanks to years of policy measures that have reduced its vulnerability to energy shocks.

China boasts an electric vehicle fleet about as large as the rest of the world’s combined, vast and growing oil stockpiles, diversified supplies of oil, and gas and an electricity grid that is almost insulated from imports thanks to domestic coal and renewables.

“The current situation is really close to what Chinese planners have had in mind for decades,” said Lauri Myllyvirta, co-founder of the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air in Finland.

“It validates the drive to reduce reliance on seaborne fossil fuels.”

Trump is a History lesson. "Why did no US president in the last 45 years try and invade Iran?"

The answer "because it's ******* stupid."

China's eating our lunch on energy right now. We're going into hiding by making the planet hate us.

Imagine that -- the world now trusts China than America. Literally.

I don't think that one has sunk itself into the MAGA skull yet.
I don't think things like that ever sink into their skulls. The only things that get in there are simplistic things that they're told to think by manipulators and con artists.

As well as 193 other countries in the world.
Israel and the US excluded.

11 countries leading the charge on renewable energy

How spectacularly ironic -- a few months ago, Denmark was having to meet with its (real) NATO allies to discuss how to militarily defend Greenland from a powerful, aggressive predator nation.

1. Denmark

Denmark is one of the world’s renewable leaders, sourcing 88% of its power from renewable sources in 2024, and racing towards 100% by 2030. Wind alone provides 58% of the country’s power, thanks to more than 50 years of community leadership in wind projects. For nearly 15 years the Danish government has required all new wind projects to be at least 20% community owned. Now, more than half of Denmark’s wind generation capacity is owned by the community, helping to ensure its citizens benefit from the shift to renewables and building social licence for a rapid rollout.

Denmark's electric rate is more than double the US rate.
Not competitive in today's business climate where everyone is racing to develop the best AI systems, that use ungodly amounts of electricity. How can your products be competitive if your energy cost is not competitive?
