Trump's Nomination of Gaetz Comes Only Days before Release of Ethics Report

So that a special election can be held and his replacement can be sworn in next January dummy.
WTF?

Sure, THAT was the reason.
Trump and his cult are SO gullible.
Because Presidents meet with officials from foreign governments, even when there is a phony impeachment going on.
NOT our adversaries, dipstick.

Great. We'll see what it says tomorrow.

TDS has rotted your brain,
1731580119138.png

Has rotted yours.
According to Trump-hater Bob Woodward (who broke one meaningful story in his life and milked it out for an entire career)...
Why didn't the serial, orange litigator SUE him?

You are not telling me anything I don't know about corruption in Gov't.

D.C. is an absolute cesspool of narcissism and nepotism and graft.

The problem is you are trying to find guilt by association. Has Johnson done anything wrong? No- he's not even accused of doing anything wrong. He is accused of knowing someone who allegedly said something in defense of Epstein, but we don't know what that statement was, and even if it's true, it is not Johnson who made the defense of Epstein, and it wasn't Gaetz.

So why the hell should I hold Gaetz responsible for something that a friend of a friend allegedly said, according to some fucking guy on Twitter who I have never heard of? :dunno:
Guilt by association is a most diabolical premise of "policing". I can assure you that in Canada, the bad person one might be casually associated with through some 3rd party is often just an undercover, Agent Provocateur or the like. Imagine that? "Hey, some kid went to Cub Scouts with some other kid who 15 years later knew a bad apple (who is often an undercover rabble rouser, but they disregard that in their so-called investigative notes) who caused trouble somewhere. This is evidence that the whole lot of them are organized, career.criminals"! These types.of scenarios are rampant in Canada which is why our economy is one big mirage. Once Vivek and Musk are done with their efficiency findings.and talent driven into the private sector, how much further will Canada be? Ontario today is already an inefficent, quasi-police state that fully suffers from Imposter Syndrome. Once Trump hits us with a 10% tariff all the kings mens wont be able to put humpty together again. America must never follow the tactics of declining police states, or you will becone one yourself and no person or politician will be safe. It will deter people from entering politics and you will be left with poor performers.

So now it is making sense that Trump made such a batshit crazy choice for AG: He is throwing his little perv buddy a lifeline. Birds of a feather flock together.

The House Ethics Committee was set to vote this week on releasing a report about Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), who resigned from Congress on Wednesday after being picked as President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general, according to four people familiar with the matter.

The Ethics Committee is still expected to meet and could release the report as soon as Friday, said the people familiar, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive conversations.

Gaetz has been under investigation by House Ethics, a bipartisan committee made up of an equal number of Republicans and Democrats, for allegations that he may have engaged in sexual misconduct and illegal drug use and accepted improper gifts. If a lawmaker is under investigation by the committee and resigns, is expelled, or leaves Congress, the Ethics Committee immediately ceases any ongoing investigation.

While the panel no longer has jurisdiction to punish a former member, the bipartisan panel could vote to release the report publicly if a majority of committee members agree to do so, or transmit it to the Justice Department or the Senate Ethics Committee.

Gaetz did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The news that the committee was supposed to vote this week was first reported by Punchbowl News.

It is not yet clear if there is any connection between the timing of the Gaetz announcement and the possible release of the report on the investigation.

After Trump met with House Republicans in Washington on Wednesday morning, Gaetz flew back to Florida with him on his private plane, according to three different people familiar with the matter, who also spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive issues.

By the afternoon, Trump named Gaetz as his pick for attorney general, a move that stunned many Senate and House Republicans. Not long after, the Florida lawmaker submitted his resignation, with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) telling reporters that it was “effective immediately.”

The investigation into Gaetz by the 10-member panel, which rarely discloses information about ongoing investigations, said this summerthat it had “determined that certain of the allegations merit continued review.” The committee announced that it had also identified new lines of inquiry that merited review, including whether Gaetz “dispensed special privileges and favors to individuals with whom he had a personal relationship, and sought to obstruct government investigations of his conduct.”

Criminals offering criminals jobs... sounds like the mafia.

Well the tweet was from someone who was talking about Peter Theil, who is hated by the left because he is a billionaire GOP donor.

Peter Thiel is a topic in and of itself. If the left hates him, it's for all the wrong reasons. Whitney Webb is not a leftist at all, she is extremely pro-liberty, she exposes government corruption regardless of the party. She has written extensively on Thiel, the problem with him is that he's a fake 'libertarian' with deep CIA connections and his software has been used by the alphabet agencies for Orwellian unconstitutional surveillance. In other words, he's working with the Powers-that-shouldn't-be to architect a surveillance society. (You can't get much more 'deep state' than that.)

He's also a technocrat, and if you learn about Technocracy, it is very bad news, for everyone.

AND he's part of the Bilderberg (globalist) group, and is on their Steering Committee, according to their website.

But again, he's a whole other topic.

I don't know if those tweets are really from Johnson or that's his substack but the world is full of conspiracy theorists and he sounds like an antisemitic kook.

Yeah, he does sound like a kook, which is why I found the whole thing very strange, his connection to Gaetz. But that really is his twitter / x, and his blog. I haven't seen anyone argue otherwise.

What specifically did he say about the Epstein case? Epstein got a slap on the wrist obviously because he was connected to powerful people. Are you saying Gaetz was part of that group?

I was saying that he did not want that "slap on the wrist" case to be re-evaluated. At least that's what I've been hearing. Here's an article on it:

And I did quickly look at that other article you linked to, of course he's going to downplay his association with someone like Chuck Johnson.

May 10, 2017 · WASHINGTON — When President Trump met with top Russian officials in the Oval Office on Wednesday, White House officials barred reporters from witnessing the moment.
Yes Mary, Presidents meet with our adversaries all the time.
NO, they don't.
Trump had no reason to snub Russia. He knew, and so did Putin, that the collusion nonsense was a complete fabrication.
So................THAT'S why they met and called so many times?
Is that why Trump's team lied about meeting Russians?

Aug 2, 2016 · Trump’s de facto campaign manager, Paul Manafort, was a longtime consultant to Viktor Yanukovich, the Russian-backed president of Ukraine who was overthrown in 2014.

Manafort also has done multimillion-dollar business deals with Russian oligarchs. Trump’s foreign policy advisor Carter Page has his own business ties to the state-controlled Russian oil giant Gazprom. … Another Trump foreign policy advisor, retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, flew to Moscow last year to attend a gala banquet celebrating Russia Today, the Kremlin’s propaganda channel, and was seated at the head table near Putin.

I read some of Whitney Webb's stuff, and she is pretty out there herself. Everyone is "closely connected" to this or that, but it's all really just associations and you will always find associations. It's very sensationalist writing.

I was saying that he did not want that "slap on the wrist" case to be re-evaluated. At least that's what I've been hearing. Here's an article on it:

“I don’t know what I don’t know and certainly if there is ever an indication of misconduct, that has to be thoroughly reviewed, but I think it’s a dangerous thing to go back and second-guess decisions that prosecutors have to make in real time,” Gaetz said. “I’m deeply troubled by Mr. Epstein’s actions, I think that he certainly should have faced a far stiffer consequence than he did, but having tried cases I know that it’s hard to go back and sort of second-guess the risk analysis that goes into putting witnesses before a jury and subjecting them to cross examination.”

That is not defending Epstein or arguing against reviewing the case, it's a lawyer commenting on second-guessing cases that are already decided, and saying it has to be approached with some caution.

And I did quickly look at that other article you linked to, of course he's going to downplay his association with someone like Chuck Johnson.
You dismiss what Gaetz said, and ignore that he didn't even know Johnson before the SOTU invite- he had just met him, and he distanced himself from Johnson's positions when he learned more about the guy.

Nothing in that politico piece makes me think they are close friends like Webb claims in her tweet. She is sensationalizing the SOTU invite into something it wasn't.

Again, so the photo of them hanging out together is a lie? The note from Gaetz he put on his x is also a lie? Johnson's own words on his blog about their friendship is a lie?

It sounds like your partisanship is taking precedence over all else, by the way you deny everything.

As for what you said about Gaetz and the Epstein case, I didn't claim he was defending Epstein. He didn't want the case re-evaluated. Unless there's something more recent that I haven't seen, last I've checked that is still his position. Spin it if you like, but when you put that together with other things I have heard about him, it doesn't give me a very good feeling, especially for someone who is going to be AG.

While this is hardly a process to do a deep dive into anyone's qualifications, I suggest that anyone concerned that this is a "bat-shit crazy" appointment should fly over to YouTube, and watch some of his interrogations of Administration officials on various subjects.

He is an all-star. Watching these videos alone can tell you why Trump chose him. As for the ethics concerns, he has been exonerated of any illegal conduct, and ethics would concern the "appearance of wrongdoing," which is usually bullshit. Everything done by the Biden Administration creates the appearance of wrongdoing, and the Left has no concerns whatsoever about them.

^^ and there we have it….proof the poster is fully delusional and this entire story is all manufactured bullshit.

Maybe Gaetz will go after these RAPING MURDERING illegals and the Dem shits who helped them sneak across our border and released them to MURDER and RAPE Americans.

Gaetz is certainly popular with the hard core Trump cultists, both here and in Congress.

Those who view Trump more as a God-like figure over that as Commander in Chief clearly are all in on Gaetz, both here and in Congress. While this might add up to a majority on this forum, I don't think that math holds up in Congress, where even some Trump loyalists are not exactly fans of Gaetz's behavior.

Again, so the photo of them hanging out together is a lie? The note from Gaetz he put on his x is also a lie? Johnson's own words on his blog about their friendship is a lie?
So every time someone takes a selfie with a politician it means they are besties? Where does that picture come from?

Why am I supposed to be all excited about it? Because Gaetz knows someone who happens to be a kook? According to other kooks?

That is guilt by association...
