“A measure of American democracy is that the nation has survived and endured bad presidents. Witness Donald Trump’s first term in the White House.
Checks and balances limit the damage, and voters come to their senses.
What’s astounding about Trump’s return, however, is that all signs pointed to a vengeance presidency, with extremist appointments and loyalty paired with a deliberate lack of qualifications as the sole criteria in filling senior posts in the federal government.
No one should be surprised at the nominations of Matt Gaetz for Attorney General or Robert Kennedy, Jr., as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
The late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor devoted her final years to campaigning to restore and improve civics education in the nation’s schools. She warned that the nation’s schools were not schooling students in rights and responsibilities, to its peril. The 2024 presidential election results are a testament to the truth of her warning.

Trump’s second term in the White House will be another tragic example.
And again, Trump will certainly cause harm and damage to America, some of it irreparable.
The people are solely responsible for the bad government they get; the people deserve the bad government they seek.

Donald Trump's awful nominations are a preview of the chaos, vengeance, and incompetence that will mark his second regime - NPI's Cascadia Advocate
Americans were warned, repeatedly, that another Trump presidency would put a huge number of the nation's most unscrupulous, ethically-challenged people in charge of policymaking and delivery of essential public services. And yet millions voted in Trump in anyway. We're already getting a preview...
