many on the left have accused Trump of blinking or backing down when he gave a 90 day pause on tariffs to countries that have expressed the desire to come to the negotiating table .. but they fail to see the brilliance in Trumps move ! Trump began negotiations with a stick and then offered a carrot to the countries that expressed a willingness to negotiate .. however in the same week he slapped huge tariffs on China for their expression of defiance ! this is a brilliant move ! the 90 day pause is a sign of good will and the HUGE tariff hikes on China is proof to the over 70 countries that Trump will absolutely use the stick if necessary ! Brilliant ! the tariff hikes on China sends the a stern message to the countries that were given a pause that Trump did not blink nor will he back down if they renege on their promises !

Two things about this:

The more you back down--as the blob has time and again--the less frightful his intended victims are of his empty threats.

The other thing is that as we as a nation retreat in every way, nations are just finding other more reliable suppliers for their supply chains. Their customers--the people they sell to in their own nations--don’t like price swings and shortages that come with tariffs that their nations put on US imports.

Tariffs aren’t working. The $70 billion deficit proves it.
