I think it would be safe to say that taxes would hit the middle class, they always do. I think it would also be a pretty good bet that gas and electric prices would increase significantly. I don't know about inflation. If people are hurting more financially, doesn't that mean inflation is held in check? Have taxes ever been levied against the rich without hitting everyone else? Do you think we could transition from fossil fuels without paying a steep price? It seems those two assumptions have strong merrit. No, you're making assumptions based on incomplete information. The price of nearly every good would increase, they would pay more taxes, and they would pay increased healthcare costs if Kamala kills private healthcare. Why shouldn't your clients be worried? This is not political theorizing, this is down to earth real world consequences. How are they supposed to pay more for everything, especially energy, and give the government more money and not get hurt?Last week I had three meetings with clients who scheduled specifically because they're terrified, I mean terrified, that Biden is going to win. All they wanted to talk about was the election and the socialism that would surely follow if Biden wins. He's addicted to the blind adoration of his flock. It feeds his fragile self esteem. Any time away would be brief.I think Trump will just go away for awhile.
But then he'll come back because he's the leader of a cult, and his adherents will follow his every word.
He'll also post a bunch of bizarre conspiracy theories because his cult laps that shit up.
I've grown much less worried about a transition of power. Trump has said at his rallies if he loses, he'll just go away.
I was thinking about adding to my gold position, but I haven't. There are many other reasons to do so, though.
I think I talked them down, but the looks on their faces - just creepy. They're fed this paranoia every day, and they swallow all of it.
After 20+ years, I know not to do that.
