Trump will announce end of birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants, officials say

Nope. You are not the judge at all; your interp is meaningless. Follow SCOTUS.

Sure, that's all we can do, now. .but that's my point. We can follow scotus, and if they decide to re-interpret it, then we'll have a new version to follow.

It's kind of bad when you think of it..scotus changing our laws, when all we had to do is just go by their intent, and all of this wouldn't be awry

Plessy, Brown, Roe, whatever. Why are you crying about this? You may get your wish, though I doubt it very much. If it goes against us, the good guys, we will have to live with it.

My wish is we just stop changing the cotus every time it fits our whim.

Why does the left always refer to themselves as "the good guys", shouldn't the "good guys" be the ones who want the government to function properly and within its bounds? In that regard, we are all guilty, as we all have perverted the cotus throughout the decades..

The country is not static. It changes with every generation. Jefferson and Marshall were fighting it over 220 years ago. It is not going to stop.

You're right, but our federal government was set up to do a very specific job. The states are supposed to do the rest. One central government cannot please an entire country which is why it's a bad idea to have it be this big. Getting pulled and stretched into too many years directions.

As chartered, the federal government can work efficiently as it was designed, and if a change NEEDS to be made, they included the amendment process to do so.

Who would NOT back Trump if he declared birthright citizenship abuse as a threat to national security?

It absolutely is....and that is his ultimate weapon if those bent on America's destruction stand in the way.

The good guys want the government to do what needs doing.

What needs doing may not be within the power of the federal government, and, you and I may not agree on what "needs" doing.

This is a great reason to have everything fall to individual states, as the cotus says.

I don’t care

Let the level of government that makes the most sense do what needs doing
Some functions are best done at the local level
Other functions are best done at the state or federal level

Frankly, many states suck at what they do and need Federal oversight

Why not change the Constitution so that a future court can't change it back by reinterping it again?

Then you don't agree with the cotus. Again, it's that kind of thinking that turns around and bites you in the ass. Eventually you'll get an administration that wants something you disapprove of, then you are stuck with it.

Best to let federal government do what it was tasked to do and let the states deal with the rest.

It would show us how they handled BRC just after the passage of 14A
It was a given. My ancestors were born here after my family arrived from England. Were they not citizens?

Ever wonder why Alexander Hamilton could have never been elected President? Because he was born in the British West Indies, not the area that would become the United States. He was a naturalized citizen because he was an adult when we became an independent nation.

George Washington's older stepbrother was an officer in his majesty's Navy. Bet you didn't know that!

I agree with what makes sense

Don’t let some 18 th century aristocratic slave owner define how a modern superpower should operate

Let your local government plow the snow from your streets, run your schools, build small infrastructure, police, fire depts

Let your states run universities, make laws, build highways

Let the Federal Government do the big stuff…foreign policy, the military……keeps states from ******* up

Was any of this between 1866 and 1898? Hamilton died in 1804
