People who take this stuff seriously tend to pay attention to GDP and jobs.
People who watch FOX can't be made to understand why.
Oh so Carter was awesome, and he was right about the malaise speech. We were just too stupid to know how good we had it, kind of like now. The economy sucks, but secretly it's amazing.

People who chose Candidate Trump the first time -

Did so because he articulated solutions for the problems that plagued the nation.
Almost any of the other Republican candidates could have defeated Candidate Trump in the primaries had they simply co-opted the solutions as their own.
They didn't do that; they couldn't do that because they don't agree with the rank-and-file voters within the Republican Party or most Independents.
So, candidate Trump became President Trump.

People voted for him the 2nd time because of positive results.
