Qatar gave the new jet to the US or Trump? I thought the "emoluments clause" says the president can't accept gifts?

I thought we went thru this discussion already?

If the US taxpayers paid for all the security upgrades the new jet should become AF-1, not Trump's private jet.

Trump can have one of the 40-year old 747s for his library, but the new jet should be AF-1for a while, shouldn't it?

"The administration formally accepted a luxury Boeing 747 jet from Qatar last year to be used as the presidential airplane, despite questions about the ethics and legality of accepting such an expensive gift from a foreign government. Trump has insisted in the past that he would not fly around in the Qatari jet once he leaves office and said it would instead be donated to a future presidential library."

He should give it to Iran.

Since Iran owned Trump during this war, they should also own his plane.

All sketchy backroom deals and corruption aside, that is one sweet ass AF1.
That paint scheme alone is very nice.
You know the Jews have bugged that MFer to high Hell...:D

The only reason they're using it is because Boeing can't get the new ones made. LOL, as for the emoluments clause--Trump doesn't own the library or anything in it.

US taxpayers paid for all the security upgrades for that new AF-1.
Those upgrades are probably worth more than the new 747.
That upgraded jet needs to be kept for the next president.
Boeing is supposed to deliver TWO new 747s in 2028, do we need 3 new AF-1s?

The planes are VC-25B's which apparently are upgraded 747's IIRC, the 747 has been discontinued. This plane wouldn't have been put in use had Boeing delivered on time.
The Boeing 747's production ended in 2023 after 54 years, with the final 747-8F freighter delivered to Atlas Air. It remains in limited cargo and passenger service.

The US has had more than one AF-1 aircraft since 1953 and currently have two in addition to the plane in the OP. This one will be retired after Boeing delivers the two that they are late in delivering.

The US has maintained more than one Air Force One presidential aircraft since 1953, when the practice was established to avoid confusion between the presidential aircraft and civilian planes. Currently, there are two identical Boeing 747-200B planes used for this purpose.

The U.S. has two Boeing 747-200B aircraft designated as Air Force One, known as VC-25A, which are used for presidential travel.

We just bought two 747s to use for spare parts! They are never intended to fly anyone!

The last AF-1s lasted about 40-years. I'm losing track of how many new ones are being purchased.
1. The gift from Qatar just now operational
2. The two new ones being built by Boeing that are late and scheduled for delivery in 2028
3. As you say, we just bought two more for training and spare parts, WTF? 5 new AF-1s!!!!!

The U.S. Air Force has confirmed it is buying two Boeing 747-8 passenger jets from Lufthansa. The service says the aircraft will backstop training and spare parts for the incoming 747-8 presidential fleet. The purchase runs alongside a revised VC-25B delivery target that now points to mid-2028.

IMHO... What should have happened.

1. Accept the aircraft.

2. Send it to Boeing.

3. Strip out the inside and configure it for cargo/troop movement.

4. Paint it in standard Air Force livery.

5. Send it to the Air Force's Military Airlift Command (MAC) for strategic cargo and troop transport.

6. Send Qartar a picture with a nice thank you note.

Yes, it is ours, we paid for the upgrades....donating to a Library is utter bull....will it sit in a museum like setting? And why in the heck would Trump want this plane there when he rode in the existing one for 6 years?

We have the weakest Speaker of the House in our history with Mike Johnson....there have been at least a dozen instances where Congress was suppose go vote to give trump permission to otherwise lawless actions that Mike has sent congress home on, without a vote....

Fyi, the cost is in contention...and it is ours, we should keep it. Period.

The Contested Figure: Congressional Democrats and independent defense experts argued the real price tag is closer to $934 million to $1 billion. Investigations highlighted an unexplained transfer of $934 million from the over-budget Sentinel nuclear missile program, which critics allege was quietly diverted to fund the extensive "down-to-the-studs" security overhaul and debugging of the foreign aircraft.

Opinion noted, and dismissed. Thank you for your exertion. :abgg2q.jpg:

BTW, MAC no longer exists. It's Air Mobility Command.
