Trump to end LGBTQ crisis hotline… why?

From the OP

"the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, will “no longer silo” LGBTQ youth services, also known as the “Press 3 option,” beginning July 17 “to focus on serving all help seekers, including those previously served through the Press 3 option.”
So it looks like a trans youth can still call and is not shut out.

I understand debate about trans in sports and locker rooms etc. but why in the world would anybody end a crisis hotline that receives over 2000 calls a day? These are youth who are suicidal and in crisis reaching out for help. And there’s no plan or effort to replace the assistance with anything.

Play your political games all you want but cutting off a lifeline to people in need of help is just cruel.

Does anybody want to try and justify this?

/----/ Why doesn't the LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ community fund their own crisis hotline? Why do normal people have to pay for it?

Lets' start with not encouraging mental illness.

Did we have an LGBTQ crisis hotline in 1985? Why or why not?
Are suicide rates lower today than they were in 1985?

Ok it’s being pushed too much and there are some real debatable issues… by why cut off I lifeline to children and teens. A support system that’s actually being used. Saying that trans rights is pushed too much just does cut it.
If perverts weren't grooming small children. We wouldn't have this problem.

Ummmmmmmmmm, there is already a suicide/crisis hotline. Why have more than one?

The person handling the calls needs to be familiar with the challenges of LGBTQ

Do they have people at the suicide who specialize in relationship issues? Financial issues? Job loss? I mean people want to do that for a million reasons. Do they all get a special hotline?

Some do, some don’t

Domestic abuse is not for suicide. Neither is rape.

A suicide hotline can deal with any reason a person might be thinking of suicide. This is not difficult

They’ve been calling me this one. In massive numbers. So why cut it off? Nobody has answered this question yet except for one person who said they are pushing trans too much. I think it’s a loss poor answer but that’s all we got so far
My understanding is it's not being shut down, it is no longer going to be dedicated to just LGBT crisis, but all crisis.

All Crisis Matter.

Do you REALLY want to pull on that thread?
Yes. Here is the list of convicted pedos from the GOP vs your cute meme.

You don’t think victims of rape and domestic abuse can be suicidal?

Because crisis hotlines already exist. No need to be redundant when we’re tens of trillions in debt.

I didn't say that, hello? But they also might NOT be. In either case they might be looking for other support or advice.

But you call a suicide hotline because you feel suicidal; as I said, for all KINDS of reasons.

:slap:

Guess what sweetie, shows you can have different hotlines for different purposes.

How do you know you need an LGBTQ hotline?
By the number of calls received

This is fake news. Of course.

The organization in question debunked the lie themselves:

SAMHSA [the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration] insisted that affected youths can still receive help, but from the general hotline number.

'Everyone who contacts the 988 Lifeline will continue to receive access to skilled, caring, culturally competent crisis counselors who can help with suicidal, substance misuse, or mental health crises, or any other kind of emotional distress. Anyone who calls the Lifeline will continue to receive compassion and help,' the agency said.
