Revealed: Trump team hired spy firm for ‘dirty ops’ on Iran arms deal

Trump's usual way of doing business..dirty:

"Aides to Donald Trump, the US president, hired an Israeli private intelligence agency to orchestrate a “dirty ops” campaign against key individuals from the Obama administration who helped negotiate the Iran nuclear deal, the Observer can reveal.
According to incendiary documents seen by the Observer, investigators contracted by the private intelligence agency were told to dig into the personal lives and political careers of Rhodes, a former deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, and Kahl, a national security adviser to the former vice-president Joe Biden. Among other things they were looking at personal relationships, any involvement with Iran-friendly lobbyists, and if they had benefited personally or politically from the peace deal.

Investigators were also apparently told to contact prominent Iranian Americans as well as pro-deal journalists – from the New York Times, MSNBC television, the Atlantic, Vox website and Haaretz, the Israeli newspaper among others – who had frequent contact with Rhodes and Kahl in an attempt to establish whether they had violated any protocols by sharing sensitive intelligence. They are believed to have looked at comments made by Rhodes in a 2016 New York Times profile in which he admitted relying on inexperienced reporters to create an “echo chamber” that helped sway public opinion to secure the deal. It is also understood that the smear campaign wanted to establish if Rhodes was among those who backed a request by Susan Rice, Obama’s final national security adviser, to unmask the identities of Trump transition officials caught up in the surveillance of foreign targets."

This is so hilarious. And more so each time someone posts it.

Odd...I find your humor...humorous..thus all are amused--never mind if it is true..we've gotten to the point that Trump folk don't even care if stuff like this is true or not..they'll attack the source..or just ignore it...God forbid if you'd address it...or rebut it with cogent argument--because, what's the point, right? If true..so what?

I usually take posts such as your as confirmation..since if you had a real rebuttal..you'd use it.

It makes sense to investigate these people. The Iran deal was so bad and the apparent level of incompetence of those in the Obama administration who advocated it was so astonishing that one must suspect either either corruption or disloyalty played a major role in it.

What is so bad about the Iran deal that you would think that people were disloyal to the US?

What is so bad about the Iran deal that you would think that people were disloyal to the US?
Inspections are limited to sites declared nuclear sites by Iran and only with advance notice; it doesn't address the fact that while Iran waits for JCPOA to expire, it is building nuclear capable missiles and researching more efficient centrifuges that will alow it to build one nuke every month when the deal expires, meaning there will be no time to negotiate a new deal.

The US position for many years had been that the only way to have confidence Iran was not building nukes was for Iran to outsource its fuel cycle the way most countries do that use nuclear energy, but the Obama administration went from that position to arguing Iran had to be allowed some enrichment to save face to allowing Iran to do everything but actually assemble nukes. The deal was so bad the administration had to blatantly lie that Iran was weeks or a month away from building a bomb when in fact it was nowhere near that close. If this was the best the Obama administration could do, these people were so incompetent they would have been unemployable in the private sector.

You mean they parroted the position of the Israeli's.

Even as you do now.

There is no evidence that Iran is building a nuclear weapon. All the evidence suggests that America is being dragged into another ill fated confrontation by the Israelis.

Enough is enough.

You have a very rich fantasy life. It was Kerry who lied about Iran being so close to building a bomb while the Israeli position was that there was lots of time before Iran would be able to, and Iran had not added to its stockpile of 20% enriched uranium since Netanyahu had threatened to blow it in 2012. This was purely another Obamascam.

American cannot be dragged into another war by Israel since it has never been dragged into a first war by Israel. There is abundant evidence that Iran was trying to build a bomb but there is not evidence it has continued the program past 2009, but the fact that it had preserved all prior weapons research and lied about its existence repeatedly suggests Iran intends to resume its program, if it has not already once Obama's ridiculous deal expires.

Why am I, or anyone, supposed to care about this?
You're not. You're supposed to support your faction above all else.

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty

None of you Israeli agents can be trusted to tell the truth.

Iran on brink of nuclear bomb in six-seven months: Netanyahu
WASHINGTON/JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on Sunday that Iran was just six to seven months away from the brink of being able to build a nuclear bomb, adding urgency to his demand that President Barack Obama set a “red line” for Tehran in what could deepen the worst U.S.-Israeli rift in decades.

Taking to the television airwaves to make his case directly to the American public, Netanyahu said that by mid-2013 Iran would be “90 percent of the way” toward enough enriched uranium for a weapon. He again urged the United States to spell out limits that Tehran must not cross if it is to avoid military action - something Obama has refused to do.

Look at the date, that was right before Netanyahu told Iran if it produced 200kg or 20% enriched uranium Israel would blow it up, and Iran froze its stockpile of 20% enriched uranium. When Netanyahu laid down his red line Iran was weeks away for having enough 20% enriched uranium to build a bomb but since that stockpile had not moved since 2012, when Kerry said it Iran was close to building a bomb, he was lying.

How about you cite John Kerry saying as you claim.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has said that Iran has the ability to produce highly-enriched uranium for one bomb in two months, if it so decided. [ID:nL6N0N010U] Western officials and experts say this potential timeline must be substantially extended under any deal to end the decade-old nuclear dispute.

In an apparent attempt to counter that view, an Iranian website this month published a report saying it would take at least 18 months to do so, a time frame that would reach three years if conversion of the material into uranium metal and moulding - steps required to make a bomb - were included.

Yet more time would be needed to develop a vehicle, a missile for example, for a nuclear warhead to be delivered to its target.

“It is impossible for Iran to break out in months through the uranium route. The required time span is in years,” the report published on www.nuclearenergy.ir said, stressing that this was a “hypothetical” scenario.

The website says it is “dedicated to providing accurate and factual information” about the Iranian nuclear programme, which the Islamic Republic says is entirely peaceful.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...-bomb-breakout-timeline-idUSKBN0ET1JV20140618

And Kerry said this after Iran had frozen its enrichment of 20% for two years in response to Netanyahu's threat to blow it up. The very best thing one can say about JCPOA is that it prevented Iran from assembling a bomb for a few years, but allowing it to prepare to produce a bomb every month after the deal ended.

Okay, so you think the US assessment was false. You think it was due to Israeli threats that Iran agreed to freeze its stockpile of uranium. And the agreement prevents the Iranians from developing weapons for an additional 10 years or so. How does any of this make the deal negotiators disloyal to the US? And where are Trump's allegiances that he would question his fellow American's motives?

The deal was never meant to be a solution to the "Iranian problem". It was just one tact in a multi pronged plan to contain Iran following the idiotic Iraq war that Israel lobbied for.

And where are Trump's allegiances that he would question his fellow American's motives?

The deal was never meant to be a solution to the "Iranian problem". It was just one tact in a multi pronged plan to contain Iran following the idiotic Iraq war that Israel lobbied for.
There was no multi pronged plan to contain Iran, it was just a failed negotiation that did nothing useful. Israel had put Iran on notice that if it pursued nukes any further it would be attacked and Iran responded to that threat by freezing its stockpile of 20% enriched uranium, so JCPOA did nothing more to prevent Iran from building a bomb that had already been accomplished by Netnayahu's red line.

There was no urgency so why make such a bad deal? Why suspend the sanctions and release hundreds of billions of dollars of Iranian funds, much of which every administration since the Iranian revolution had refused to release? The sanctions were destroying the Iranian economy - Rohani had been elected on the single promise of making a deal with the West to gain sanctions relief - so why not continue to pressure the Iranian economy for another year or two or more until it was forced to outsource its whole fuel cycle as every other administration and the Congress had demanded?

  • There are only two possible explanations: either the Obama administration was almost incomprehensibly incompetent or with all those hundreds of billions of dollars at play people within the administration had been reached and persuaded to soften the US position. But persuaded by whom? Private business interests or Iranian agents? Since JCPOA accomplished nothing that had not already been accomplished by Netanyahu's warning, why all the lies to give a sense of urgency to get the deal approved if not for one these two reasons: incompetence or corruption, perhaps disloyalty if the corruption had been achieved by Iranian agents?

Awesome!

Avalon Project - Washington's Farewell Address 1796

Got it.

You admit that there is no wrong doing here, as you can't explain any, and that you are only pretending because you are so insanely partisan, that you will do or say anything to advance your faction.

Thanks.

Well, the Guardian is reporting on this little tidbit on the extent that the Trump entourage has gone to undermine anything that Obama may have accomplished, and possibly place us in yet another global challenge.......all for the sake of "jealousy" toward Obama's achievements AND all for the sake of boosting Netanyahu's standing in Israel.

Aides to Donald Trump, the US president, hired an Israeli private intelligence agency to orchestrate a “dirty ops” campaign against key individuals from the Obama administration who helped negotiate the Iran nuclear deal, the Observercan reveal.

People in the Trump camp contacted private investigators in May last year to “get dirt” on Ben Rhodes, who had been one of Barack Obama’s top national security advisers, and Colin Kahl, deputy assistant to Obama, as part of an elaborate attempt to discredit the deal.

The extraordinary revelations come days before Trump’s 12 May deadline to either scrap or continue to abide by the international deal limiting Iran’s nuclear program.
