Trump targets homeless problem

Exactly where will all the homeless be housed or hospitalized?

I await your answer with bated breath.
They need to be put in a hospital until stable then when possible treated outpatient. Modern treatments are so effective many serious mental disorders no longer require inpatient care

Or a Base or Property that is secured with overwatch/ Oversight to mitigate Crime . Some Housing will be Drug Rehab / Alcohol Rehab oriented and some will be more oriented to short term Adapting guest to socializing And future employment with in-house programs …

The most importanrt change we have to make is that they can never refuse treatment

Well although I hate the son of a ***** and find it hard to believe that anything that he does will be beneficial to anyone besides himself, I'm will to give this a chance. The problem with the deinstitutionalization movement back then was that the community services that were supposed to be put in place were never fully implemented.

I will be interested in seeing if the promised funding is actually appropriated. I also have concerns about the civil rights of people who may be involuntarily committed to institutions .

I will be watching

I am impressed by your response.

Complete and utter equine excrement.
News at eleven.
No one is suggesting the anyone just be " given a house" . A . holistic approach is needed which the EO is lacking.

It's a complex issue, but I understand.......MAGA Trump worshipers have problems dealing with complexities. The best that you can do is to dumb it down to a simplistic sound bit and that tell yourself that yourself that you scored a point
The border issue was complex too, but Trump simplified it. Indecision makes problems 'complicated'. Legislators are indecisive because they're not sure how their decisions will affect their political careers.

Trump is the result/product of decades of poor decision making, or indecision, by the government.

Regarding homelessness. It's more of a nuisance than a problem. They were an eyesore in my city but not overly troublesome except for some aggressive panhandling. Our biggest problem is blacks shooting up the place. :omg:

The big problem with homelessness is the lack of affordable housing. Our Republican governor just canceled the motel voucher program and put 800 families back on the streets.

New "affordable" housing costs over $800,000 an apartment in NY and CA

There needs to be a test for demon possession. If they fail, they stay locked up.

What is financial independence? To you, to me, it's having enough money to comfortably provide for our needs and even wants.

To my family is was not paying rent, or a mortgage. Not having a landlord. Not having bills at all. It was not having to brown nose the boss. Not having to show up for work. Being able to walk away at any time. Free as a bird. Freedom.
It's likely different for every person. I work for "the man" but I do what I want on the job. And I have the means to retire comfortably whenever I choose. Freedom for me is the power to do whatever the hell I want to do, within reason of course.

Get them help...WHERE?

How many times do I have to show the resources are not there!?!

I can guarantee you Trump will one day be telling you, "Nobody knew homelessness was so complicated!"

.
You break the problem down into manageable sized pieces. Instead of dealing with the homeless as a group deal with them a few at a time. Over time the problem can be brought under control.

There is no anywhere.

And of course you don't care, just like you won't care when Trump's empty EO accomplishes nothing.

"Nobody knew homelessness was so complicated!"

No need to wait for Trump to solve the homeless problem. The states and the cities can do it for themselves.

When offered shelter they either refuse or get violent and disruptive to get thrown out. There are some people who simply cannot be helped. Settle them in some open land somewhere and leave them be.
They have to be close to their drug dealers, and others that they can steal from to pay their dealer.

Whenever there is a jail cell available, arrest one of them for drug use and dry them out for a month. Then return them to their tent or cardboard box. Rinse and repeat as necessary.

How?

How many times do I have to tell you fools there is nowhere for them to be placed?

When Trump's idiotic plan fails, he will blame everyone but himself.

Riiiight you launch into a tirade no doubt TDS enabled and I'm the one who should communicate like an adjult. Come here pitiful Dem winger :itsok:
Tirade? Calmly pointing out that Trumps EO is bullshit and that his budget contradicts and undermines the stated goals of the homeless plan is not a tirade, You just think it is because you're triggered by facts that you don't like

Start small and work your way up. If you lock up one doper for 30 days, it's one doper off the streets and 30 days where he or she doesn't commit a crime or pay a drug dealer. Check around for empty jail cells, arrest accordingly. Hospital EDs are a great place to make arrests, at low cost to the city. No treatment, just 30 days jail time. If this drives the dopers underground and they die from lack of intervention, so be it.

Years ago a friend and I were arrested and put in the county jail for the weekend. The cells held 8 people. I was the sixth, leaving two beds empty. My friend was put in a different cell meaning there was also a free bed in another cell. By Sunday only four of us remained leaving four free beds. So, while prisons may be overcrowded, city and county jails are probably not.
