Trump Says He Can't Guarantee Americans Won't Pay More as a Result of Tariffs

When has a conservative president paid down debt? Trump increased the debt to the benefit of billionaires.
/—-/
That's the exchange for businesses being allowed to exist. You act like businesses have a right to exist and government is an imposition on them rather than the thing that allows them to exist in the first place.
/—-/ They pass the corporate taxes on to the consumer. How much more do you want to pay for stuff?

/—-/ What part of the Constitution allows a president to pay down the debt? Only Congress can do that.

/—-/ Is there a reason to didn’t explain why, or are we just supposed to take your word for it?
Because he's a conspiracy theorist not a scientist. He doesn't understand why some things should opposed and others shouldn't. Like fluoride in the water or vaccines.

It's republicans who vote against things like the child tax credit or paid family leave. Why don't you learn some actual policy and who supports it?
The gop created the CTC, you idiot. A Republican congressman drafted it back in the 90s

Why are you so stupid?

By that logic they shouldn't be taxed at all to save the consumer a buck. You guys act like tax revenue is a bad thing.
/—-/ It’s a back door tax on consumers. GEEZE, is it that hard to understand?

/—-/ Why do you ignore the obvious? It’s so frustrating.

What is so obvious? Not being a dick here, and I'm trying not to ignore the obvious but so far I'm not seeing the benefits of tariffs outweighing the disadvantages. There IS a cost to imposing or raising tariffs and also a cost when the importing countries retaliate. They are not going to take it in the shorts and do nothing.

/—-/ Maybe, like tariffs and trade deals, but what’s the use if Congress spends it faster than it comes in?
You understand that the President can sign or veto bills sent to him by congress right? And that Trump has advocated and signed every corporate and wealthy tax break that's been put in front him? Cutting taxes on the wealthy and corporations as we continue to spend and give subsidies and contracts to those same corporations like Elons StarLink raises the debt.

/—-/ I think he’s more blinded by partisanship than stupidity.

That's the 90s. Join us in this century where your republican congressmen voted against it.

Trump is going to do it so Trumpers say OK

That’s just how it works with cults

When has a conservative paid down debt? The only balanced budget in the past 50 years was put together by Newt Gingrich. Unfortunately, Democrats cannot help trying to buy votes with taxpayer and/or borrowed money.

As for the OP, Republicans understand that some things are more important than the weekly food bill. If ENFORCING THE FUCKING LAW results in a bit of price inflation, so be it. Better to enforce the law than save a buck.

/—-/ I’m tired of going over the same ground time after time. Trump vetoed a spending bill and democRATs refused to negotiate. The government shut down for 12 weeks I believe. So many people were being hurt that he had no choice to sign it reluctantly.
Reagan wanted the line item veto like many governors have but the USSC said no.
Now, if you can please explain what else a president, any president can do, tell us.
If not, stop with the false flags.

Why then are costs passed onto consumers the fault of greedy CEOs when they are the result of higher taxes but the fault of a politician when they are the result of higher tariffs? In both cases the businesses are passing on the higher costs to the consumers.

Why did Trump veto that bill?

Trump vetoes defense bill - Roll Call

Trump has taken issue with a provision that would rename military bases that honor Confederate generals and with the lack of a provision that would deprive social media companies of their legal liability shields.

The president also balked at language that would impose limits on how many troops can be withdrawn from Afghanistan and Germany — and how quickly.
