Trump Says He Can't Guarantee Americans Won't Pay More as a Result of Tariffs

Except those taxes aren't just for the sake of themselves, progressive policy would use those taxes to provide services and assistance to poor and working class families. Trump and his billionaire friends are just grifting on their own behalf.
In both cases, businesses are arbitrarily assigned higher costs. In both cases, the revenue accrues to the federal treasury. In both cases, Congress and the president then decide how to spend it.

See, I can't take you seriously because those "billionaire friends" are the ones that will be paying higher costs to do business as their foreign made goods are brought into the country. Did you not think this through?

/——/ So the Progs would find more ways to squander money rather than pay down the debt? Proving once again, the Swamp is insatiable.
Take some of the billions going to the Ukraine and use it for your pet social services.

And you must not live in california

The increased prices come as interest rates remain high from the Federal Reserve hikes earlier this year. The national average price for regular gasoline was $3.83 per gallon as of Tuesday, 11 cents higher per gallon than a year ago.

California had the highest average at $5.84 per gallon and Mississippi had the lowest at $3.26, according to a chart by the AAA. Following California, Nevada, Washington, Hawaii and Oregon also topped the list.

The debt is supposedly number one, why do we have such a large debt if wealthy people are controlling our government? or are they really poor people?

An inferior human is an inferior human, whether they be rich or poor.
Yeah, we need a president who refuses his own presidential salary, instead donating it every year.

The Trump-hating idiots can't figure that out on their own. Maybe thy need therapy chimps or emotional support monkeys to carry around with them, to help them figure things out.
They understand, but they need to fearmonger for the next 4 years

By law, they can't refuse the salary, after they get it, they may do as they please with it.

Let's see evidence of any lib advocating for more processed food.

/—-/ That’s not what I said. RFK Jr wants to fix a problem libs have lobbied against for decades, but because he left the DNC to work with Trump, he’s the enemy.
Let’s see how many democRATs vote against his nomination.

but demafacist never actually do that....just look at the past four years, where they made a majority of americans worse off.

Gas prices went down, I know that. Tariffs are ultimately paid for by American consumers in the form of higher prices, that's the whole point of a tariff. Instead of paying X dollars for something you pay X+Y dollars for the same thing and that is inflationary. In and of itself maybe not so much, but it's still inflationary. And nobody talks about the retaliation; when Trump creates or increases a tariff on imported stuff, the foreign country it came from will raise tariffs on our stuff going to them. So, some businesses here are helped but others are hurt in the backlash. And the problem is that the US consumers hurt the most by these actions are the poorest among us, cuz now their income doesn't stretch as far as it used to.
/—-/ Why do you ignore the obvious? It’s so frustrating.

It makes for a great tax deduction.
yes, but even they have caps and only if you itemize.

The point of charity deductions is to encourage people to give and help....sadly, people that ID as leftist, are selfish, and don't...

Meh, semantics. The result is the same, a president who doesn't accept a salary to lead the nation. There's only been one that I'm aware of who did that admirable thing.

Everything is arbitrary in a manufactured system. There is no objective right set of costs that businesses should pay, just whatever society deems and for what purpose.

When has a conservative president paid down debt? Trump increased the debt to the benefit of billionaires.

Except that isn't why anyone on the left opposes RFK.

And we've come full circle. A politician imposes higher costs on businesses that get passed onto the customers:

1. If the higher costs are the result of tariffs, the usual suspects have a conniption fit, blaming the politician and ignoring the CEOs of those companies.
2. If the higher costs are the result of higher taxes, the usual suspects have a conniption fit, blaming the CEOs of those companies and lauding the politician who imposed the costs.

The end result is the same, more revenue for the government, higher prices for the citizens to pay, but in one case the politician takes heat while in the other, he doesn't. Can you see how you're being played?

It's republicans who vote against things like the child tax credit or paid family leave. Why don't you learn some actual policy and who supports it?

That's the exchange for businesses being allowed to exist. You act like businesses have a right to exist and government is an imposition on them rather than the thing that allows them to exist in the first place.
