Trump says 8 European countries will be charged a 10% tariff for opposing US control of Greenland

The tariffs are not taxes on Americans, so the House has no special role to play on this issue.

I agree, you have to wonder why some are so concerned that the US is no longer being taken advantage of by tariffs imposed on us, and seem to see that as a bad thing. Shows where their loyalties lie and where they don't.

Maybe we'll all migrate there to get away from you loons, you're all about illegal immigration, and it's wonderful that you suddenly care about borders and sovereignty, but apparently only for other countries, not the US. 🤡
That’s a perfect idea. You could migrate there and see what it’s like to be a hated illegal. Gain some perspective

Canada's Mark Carney gave a great speech (so nice to watch an intelligent, articulate, dignified speaker) at the WEF today.

He smartly ignored America, simply lumping us in with Russia and China. The old world order is over.

Russia, America and China can have their authoritarian competition, the rest of the world work towards looking out for itself.

The US wasn’t being taken advantage of. We are the top economy in the world and we call the shots. You’ve been fed a load of crap. Tariffs are taxes and they do raise consumer prices so they impact all of us. That’s how it works. Sloppy careless policy like Trump imposed can hurt the economy like we’ve seen over the past year. He stopped the positive trend that he inherited

Thanks, Don. This announcement just shaved 1.5% off my portfolio this morning. Don't get me wrong here; I am a strong Trump supporter. But the markets dip every time the word "tariff" comes out of his mouth. What really rips me is that today it is bad, but tomorrow may see record highs. I do not blame Trump for this. Rather, this is par for the course from the manipulative institutional investors.

Sacrifices.

Just as men like IM2 have sacrificed so much, you must as well.

There can only be one victor I assure you, "America or China". Those who abandon values for an easy nickel are sending their kids to a living hell.

Then show us the tariffs in place prior to Trump, should be easy.

Yes, it's ridiculous that anything would dive at all, just a bunch of manipulative BS.

These are self inflicted wounds because trumples voted for a halfwit with no idea what he's doing.

Trump is serious about the necessity of Greenland. We will see how this ends.

NUUK, Greenland (AP) — President Donald Trump said Saturday that he would charge a 10% import tax starting in February on goods from eight European nations because of their opposition to American control of Greenland.

Trump said in a social media post that Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland would face the tariff and that it would climb to 25% on June 1 if a deal is not in place for “the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland” by the United States.

The threat of tariffs was a drastic and potentially dangerous escalation of a showdown between Trump and NATO allies, further straining an alliance that dates to 1949 and provides a collective degree of security to Europe and North America. The Republican president has repeatedly tried to use trade penalties to bend allies and rivals alike to his will, generating investment commitments from some nations and pushback from others such as China, Brazil and India.

It was unclear how Trump could impose the tariffs under U.S. law, though he could cite economic emergency powers that are currently subject to a U.S. Supreme Court challenge.

Trump said in his Truth Social post that his tariffs were retaliation for recent trips to Greenland by representatives from Britain, the Netherlands and Finland and for general opposition to his efforts to purchase the semiautonomous territory of NATO ally Denmark. He has Greenland is essential for the “Golden Dome” missile defense system for the U.S., and has argued that Russia and China might try to take over the island.
Some of these countries are among our best trading partners. He will end up hurting Americans and America again. By all means , let's destroy those relationships too. Total Insanity !

Trump only listens to a few things, one of which is the markets.

Big market losses may be enough to get him to chicken out.
