I would love to see Ron DeSantis run. All the benefits of Trump, with none of the detriments (including the fact that he's not older than dirt).

Look, we got Trump because we wanted to send a message to the GOP establishment and the bureaucratic state that we weren't going to tolerate government putting its own interests ahead of the people's, that we wanted people who would FIGHT, not just "manage our decline in a gentlemanly fashion". Fine, we did that. We have a slew of people available ready and willing to do just that, and do it with a lot more savvy and precision than Trump can muster. AND THEY AREN'T OLDER THAN GOD.

But the one thing that doesn't ever seem to change is that the right can't seem to get out of its own way.

Agree. I will never run down Trump as President. He was undeniably the man for the moment. He no longer is, simple as that. He would be excellent however as a sort of "kingmaker" for DeSantis, as a manner of speaking. I wish he would do that. He won't, but I wish he would.
