About time. I don't think he can get there as there will be too much opposition once politicians see their ox is being gored.

At least he is pushing for it, and in the process exposing trillions in waste, fraud and abuse.

We need a balanced budget amendment so they have to balance it each and every year. Also, term limits. Without those two things it's just a matter of time before these clowns bankrupt the USA.

A balanced budget? Only a Nazi would want one!!

Actually, Hitler ran huge deficits, so much so that he forbad the government from passing a budget so as not to alarm the public.

It was either world conquest or economic ruin. Hitler essentially burned all the bridges and forced them all to support him. You might even say how business has been done before Trump won election was very Hitler like.

Even a good share of republican politicians have a problem reducing the spending.
This is why I hate our government, the vast majority are greedy.

Well sure, our entire federal government is based on spending. If you don't spend it, someone else will. If you don't spend it, you are punished and it is given to someone else to spend. Your success and electibility are based on how much you can appropriate and spend on /your/ constituents. Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, look at all of the free money!

I remember years ago, some politician in PA prided himself on getting an airport built in central PA for his region. Thing is, no one needed it or even used it.

Trump pushing for a balanced budget.

PRESIDENT CLINTON: THE FIRST BUDGET SURPLUS IN A GENERATION

But Trump, really?

Despite DOGE, Trump's agenda calls for adding trillions of dollars to U.S. debt
Budget experts say Trump’s tax and spending priorities would increase red ink, even as he boasts of balancing the budget. “I don’t think their rhetoric matches reality," one says.

At the current rate of smoking out all the waste and thievery, it's an actual possibility.

Not holding my breath, tho.

STFU, Dainty. You're a moron. Congress controls the purse strings and develops the budget. Please review which party controlled both houses of congress from 1996-2001, which includes the surplus that you are crowing about.

I do not recall rhetoric matching reality in all of my 54 years as a voter. Everybody lies like hell about the cost and the benefits of their particular project or legislation. In Trump's case, I do not see how he can balance the budget and also cut taxes.

Newt drug Slick to that budget kicking and screaming. Slick vetoed it, then when faced with an override he signed it and tried to take credit for it.

Only idiots like you bought it.

Does he have a plan? Or is it just something he’s telling other people to do?

Who signs a budget into law?

What were the negotiations during the budgets years that led to that?

You're Junior High School arguments are tiring
