Trump prepares EO to close down the unconstitutional federal department of education

If the Dept. of Education was effective and efficient, given the amount of funding we pour into education--more than any other nation I believe--we would still be No. 1 in the world. We aren't. I'm pretty sure we won't do any worse without a Dept. of Education that isn't doing anything to educate students. What few essential services the Dept. provides can easily be moved to another department to administer.
What other department. Is there a plan to continue aid for more teachers for poor communities, provide school equipment, training, and free and reduced meals?

Or did you just make something up because you don’t really know what the DoEducation actually doees..

1. I think you're supposed to have a link to your source when you copy and paste...

2. What you posted is true, but what you're not taking into account is that the Republican's right now have control of the House, and the Senate. Dems have very little, if any power at all...

3. What you had better be concerned with is Article 5. There is a very popular movement right now in the country to meet the parameters of an Article 5 convention. If that happens, you're screwed.
Article 5? it’s a reactionary Trumpster wet dream.

What right do you have to demand a poster do something that you yourself almost never do.
If you don’t like something I do, or don’t do? Then report it, or STFU!

Giving my opponent the opportunity to abide by the rules should be seen as an act of kindness. Plus, it wasn’t even directed at you, unless ofcourse J.E. Slowbrain is your sock? Or you, his?

So, back to your corner, and only speak when spoken to, gimp.

Not as far off as you think 🤔

Just FYI...

Free and reduced meals is through the Department of Agriculture, not ED.

Thanks for making my point.

No, that’s hardly what I said. It’s what the constitution allows, not an individual’s whim.
That's exactly what you said. "No authorization is required. If it’s not expressly forbidden, it’s constitutional."

The Constitution does not expressly forbid the President dismissing Congress and passing his own laws.

The Constitution prescribes the proper roles of Congress and the President, so that would obviously not be what I was talking about. The President doing as you say would definitely be unconstitutional.

Dude your words "If it’s not expressly forbidden, it’s constitutional." The Constitution does not expressly forbid the President from dismissing Congress

Why does it matter what I said exactly? What’s important is that what Trump and Musk are doing is unconstitutional, if not criminal.

In the 1970’s they used to complain that education had declined since the 1930’s.

Abolishing it will cost a lot, and hit virtually every school district in the nation.

Of course, in typical GOP fashion, the biggest impact will be felt by the poorest districts. Federal funds provide free and reduced meals, fund additional teachers, and specialists in remedial assistance.

The total Federal funding for Title 1 funds is usually 10% of their total budget or less.

This 2ill hit every family in the nation.
So far no essential services have been stopped. But closing an agency that has promoted destructive policies for American school children and cannot justify why it should exist does not mean that every single program within that agency ceases to exist. Those essential programs are simply assigned to another agency like HHS to administer.

Thanks for confirming that your words are meaningless, Very brave of you. Kudos

Yesterday I rode around so envious of the people who own condos right on the water, on on the intercoastal. Have you ever been to Fort Lauderdale? Freakin Amazing.

Nice isn't it? If the far-left had their way, this would not be attainable. Just ask JoeB131. The "rich" aren't supposed to exist. We all need to live in block apartments, not have second homes on the intercoastal with a Grady White 330 Express out back on a 20k lb. Hi-Tide lift. ;)

Those 'poor' communities seemed to produce much better education before the Department of Education got involved. But again, essential services do not have to be provided by a mostly indefensible expensive agency. And they can be moved to and administered by another agency quite easily.

The Dems have a very close parity in the House, and the GOP is watching a weakening of their Senate majority.

We will start with the budget bill being the responsibility of the GOP. No dem in the Senate will vote for it.

So we will see what your overwhelming majority can do. :meow:
