Trump is going to lose his supporters early if he goes down this route. Is he creating his own Swamp?

He is a mega donor with no military experience. He is an art collector and private equity guy. If he wanted to give this guy a appointment to reward him for his election help give him some toy nomination, ambassador to some inconsequential country, it shouldn't be the navy. China is looking to invade Taiwan at any time, the navy needs to be run by trusted, respected military men.

Trump is supposed to be outside of these tactics. He is going to give a gift to the Dems for the midterms and beyond with such nominations so that they can get back in power and do precisely what he is doing but along gender, racial and sexual orientation lines.

President-elect Donald Trump has chosen John Phelan, a businessman and investor with no military experience, to become the next secretary of the Navy.

Phelan, if confirmed, would be the first person in 15 years to lead the Navy without having served in any branch of the armed forces.

He told NBC News on Wednesday that he was “greatly honored” to be selected by Trump, and confirmed he has not served, but declined to comment further.

It took you all this time to notice this?

I haven't had issue with other picks but this is not wise. You don't mess with the military or its readiness. Perhaps he can help improve the production lagging that the U.S has compared to China but that is the only benefit I can think of at the moment.

Antivaxxer brainworm victims?

Purchased cabinet picks?

Oil industry people?

Wake the fuck up.

Remember, Democrat morons think you don't need any career accomplishments to qualify for the job. That's why Dem retards constantly just post their job titles and avoid discussing actual accomplishments in the job like the plague.

Many people don't understand the fundamental principle that the Armed Forces have to be held in check by civilians. My personal preference for SecDef and secretaries of the individual forces would be someone who was an enlisted man for a couple years, hated it, then went on to have a successful career in the private sector.

But Generals and Admirals cannot be trusted. They advance in their careers by means and strategies that are not always the best for our national defense...I'm speaking mainly of kissing the ass of their commanding officers.

Some of them are fantastic, brilliant tacticians, war heroes, great leaders, and so on. But most of those sorts of people max out at bird colonel or Navy captain.

This guy's credentials and background will be fleshed out in the Senate hearings. Trump would not nominate anyone who cannot make a good accounting of himself.

I'm with Crep, you are just noticing this now? Did you not notice the clown car of the rest of his appointments?

Again, I doubt China is going to invade Taiwan unless they do something stupid like declare independence (in which case, they'd HAVE to invade).

Here's the reality, when Republicans say, "Clean up the Swamp", it means they replace the Ph.D.s with MBAs. Nothing really changes.

There have been others who didn’t have Navy experience. This guy went to HBS and runs a successful PE firm.

Nothing says "Drain the Swamp" like hiring a long-time lobbyist as Chief of Staff, who's made it big by being in and playing the center of The Swamp. She'll be sure to drain it...

Too, with her boss being the only one in the admin who's not bound by an ethics code will sure make her job easier...

Can you name those guys and were they successful?

Sorry, I just can't see how this guy won't be immediately reliant on the Admirals, whom your side all call "Swamp Creatures", to know how to run things.
I could Google it. Not sure how to measure success as I do not know much about the role.

This may be true. The circumstances now on the brink of WWIII and Taiwan/Asia at risk of Chinese naval attacks, the largest navy in the world and counting by the way; demands a clear, competent leader who his navy members will respect.

Like a typical PE guy, he ll have experienced military folks under him and delegate away.

SecNav is an administrative position.

Military expertise comes from the Admirals running the fleet.

The SecNav needs only know who to properly manage people and assets and follow the CinC's leadership.

We don't kowtow to our superiors in the U.S. We believe in civilian control of our military and intellectual merit, not length of service and influence. That being said, we have done a pretty lousy job during most of the last 75 years.

Military readiness has been destroyed by woke and DEI.

We are building Littoral Combat Ships wasting billions of and billions and billions of dollars under contract while we retire the earlier ships that are not a decade old. Wake us up. We need to wise up. Instead, we are wake up.
