Trump was solely a TV host? Trump held many executive roles prior to and in conjunction with his role as TV host which provided far more preparation to be Commander-in-Chief vs. a social political leader.

Point being, if Obama came into the top Military role with little to no relative professional preparation as a Military leader, there is no reason to question the experience of a branch secretary appointee.

I think that those appointed to Defense related positions should have some background in military doctrine or posture
Doesn’t even have to mean you have served in the military but have held some relative position in our nations defense.

Both parties have numerous members who have strong military credentials.
