Trump pardons ex-soldier convicted of killing Iraqi prisoner

No, but it is a soldier's job to neutralize the enemy, especially if you know he is a threat to you. And the facts have born that out, so stop right now with your attempts at strawman arguments. al Quada were the ones to declare war to the death against us. This guy was fighting for the people who killed 3000 Americans and brought down the WTC.

The FACTS have already established that the murdered Iraqi was none of the things that you so disparity want to be true. That is why behenna was convicted and then pardoned by a grifter.

BTW Iraq had nothing to do with 911. However Saudi Arabia did and we just them do as they please. Even murder in cold blood.

Saddam Hussein was giving aid and comfort to al Quada and Bin Laden was simply born in Saudi Arabia and not well regarded there. But they DID celebrate Barack Hussein Obama's election as "one of their boys." Like you.

Iraq had no ties to al Qaeda or bin laden. So, the question is can you provide the links from your deeply held wignuttery.
It was really sad that we had to rely on our allies intel for information because our president had impeded our own intel.
Saying we didn't need it. Iraq did not have clean hands in this. They did gas their own, remember? They did thwart the UN
from monitoring.

Saddam gassed his people with US made weapons, purchased on Reagan's watch.

Reagan helped Iraq gas Iranians too; what's the difference.

Is it the job of the US to support the gassing of any people?

Your hard earned tax dollars at work going toward killing for shitz & gigglez.

Oh yippy .......
deflection from my post, and somehow...made it okay for iraq to do it.

Sorry but Reagan & Rumsfeld made it OK for Saddam to do it.

Glad to clarify for you.

sounds like it was cold blooded murder to me..... outside of the law at minimum. :(

Rangers do not operate "within the law". They acquire a target and neutralize it. That's their job.
But the guy he murdered wasn't a target... he was being released and returned to his home BECAUSE they said he did not do it...? That's what the op post link said in it?
I guess you never heard of a MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE...even military acknowledged evidence in the It. favor was withheld...presumed done so by higher ups being told to do so...and only one person is that higher up!

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement to reporters, noting that 37 military generals and admirals and a former Inspector General of the Department of Defense signed a brief in support of Mr. Behenna’s claim

"Unpremeditated murder in a combat zone"? And this nets a combat American Lieutenant 25 freaking years? I could list a thousand examples of unpremeditated murder in an urban zone in the U.S. netting less than ten years. Is it any wonder that we are at a stalemate in Afghanistan when a Soldier is facing a quarter of a century in prison if the political freaks determine that he pulled the trigger on an unarmed terrorist or someone who was later determined to be a civilian? Keep in mind that former democrat presidential candidate and senator John Kerry recommended himself for a Silver Star for chasing down and shooting an unarmed teenaged V.C. who had fired a rocket at his Fastboat. Imagine if they had this agenda during WW2.

If I were POTUS, I would probably pardon or commute most of the sentences of soldiers convicted of down-range crimes against the enemy.
I might as well. It would depend on the facts.

Obama, dick that he was, was CIC and his asshole orders needed to obeyed if not unconditional.

President Trump on Monday signed an executive clemency granting a full pardon to a former Army first lieutenant convicted of murdering an Iraqi prisoner.

The White House released a statement announcing Trump's decision to pardon Michael Behenna, who was sentenced in 2009 to 15 years for shooting and killing Ali Mansur Mohamed. The move comes after repeated requests from Oklahoma's attorney general for Trump to pardon Behenna.

"Mr. Behenna’s case has attracted broad support from the military, Oklahoma elected officials, and the public," the White House said, noting that more than two-dozen generals and admirals, as well as numerous Oklahoma officials, have expressed support from Behenna, who hails from Edmond. The statements adds that he has been "a model prisoner."

"In light of these facts, Mr. Behenna is entirely deserving of this Grant of Executive Clemency," the statement read.

Prosecutors argued Behenna shot and killed Mansur, an alleged al-Qaida operative, in the desert in 2008 in retaliation for an improvised explosive device (IED) attack. Mansur had previously been ordered released due to lack of evidence for his connection to the terrorist group, and Behenna reportedly killed him while returning him to his hometown after attempting to question him about the IED attack.

Behenna was paroled in 2014 and was to remain on parole until 2024 prior to the pardon. Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter (R) recently petitioned the Trump administration to pardon the Oklahoma native, writing to Attorney General Bill Barr in April that Behenna was convicted due to improper jury instructions and that prosecutors did not properly produce evidence bolstering his claim of self-defense. Hunter had previously petitioned for the pardon in February 2018.

Hunter's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.

“This man is far more deserving of clemency than is that scumbag Bradley Manning.”

Because taking the man out in the desert, stripping him naked was in self defense?

Vietnam war era William Calley who led the massacre at Mai Lai was sentenced to a long prison term & served about 3 years & released.

They convict to show they care & then release them after things calm down.

Yes...but you have to remember that Manning is a cross dressing giver of knob jobs. Liberals love him.

Calley wasn’t in charge of that. His battalion commander was. They tried to make Calley the fall guy. His pardon was justified. How long were our troops supposed to take fire from that shit hole village?

President Trump has pardoned a former Army lieutenant who was convicted in 2009 of killing an Iraqi prisoner suspected of being an Al Qaeda terrorist, the White House announced Monday evening.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders cited "broad support" for Michael Behenna, of Edmond, Okla., "from the military, Oklahoma elected officials, and the public" -- including 37 generals and admirals, along with a former Pentagon inspector general -- as the reason for Trump's clemency grant. There was an earlier article which dud not make it clear that it was a terrorist that the soldier killed. Trump pardons ex-soldier convicted of killing Iraqi prisoner.
This is excellent news. Too many of our soldiers were prosecuted under Obama's draconian rules of engagement.
Wimp Obama was anti-military.

If I were POTUS, I would probably pardon or commute most of the sentences of soldiers convicted of down-range crimes against the enemy.
You must stand by our fighting men and women 100% all the way. They are fighting savages.

So lessee: A soldier kills the enemy in the line of duty with the full support of the military up and down the ranks and some POS prosecutor sentences the man to 15 years? We need President Trump to arrest the prosecutor and sentence him to 15 years for conspiracy against the better interests of his own nation along with a fine of $250,000 to be paid by the prosecutor to the soldier's family for harm done!

He killed an unarmed prisoner, something we are taught in the first week of boot camp is a bad thing.
Apparently, not in MAGAland anymore.

Not just that. It is the overall emotional state of free-floating anxiety, adrenaline, and boredom churning all the time. People are human. Shit happens.

Lying fuck. You love trashing vets like John Kerry & John McCain.
Yes.
John Kerry for betraying so many soldiers, slandering them and selling them out as he built a political career on his lies.
And as Obama's lackey kissing the asses of Iran's psychotic mullahs helping them to develop a nuclear arsenal.
I can't imagine anyone more repugnant, unless......

And John McCain for being a vindictive little shitbag who disgracefully turned his back on his ex wife, whored himself out to Charles Keating McCain: The Most Reprehensible of the Keating Five became the best Senator the democrats ever had, betrayed his constituents in his last days and gladly threw in with the attempted coup making sure James Comey, and the media, got the Steele dossier so it could be used to illegally obtain a FISA warrant to spy and at the same time, poison the public's mind with made up tales obtained from Russian agents.

Am I supposed to respect those two bastards? I think not. The fact that they were vets means nothing at all. I'm a vet. So what?

Kerry told the truth about atrocities.

Obama stopped Iran's nuclear work.

Bitch about McCain's politics all you want, but not his military career like your fat assed orange buddy did.
