Depends on their compensation.
I worked well over 100 hours a week in my early career, and I was swimming in loot. Breaking the law to do it. All that came after was a result of the money I was able to make the to pay off trucks and trailers and my house and property. If I had to go back and do it again...I would.
Are they indentured? Chained to their desks? Threatened with death if they quit?

I think there are a couple of things going on here.
First, Putin is thanking his lucky stars. He, what's left of his army, and his country are about to collapse, and Trump steps in to save his ass. So okay, he'll be Trump's buddy for now.
Meanwhile, Trump figures this gives him some kind of leverage over Putin going forward. Trump not only wants to play with the big boys (small guys like Z, Canada, Gaza and Greenland are small and to be intimidated/used), and now he's in.
This isn't about freedom or democracy or decency. This is about power. That's it.

I'm seeing that the EU may be stepping up their support for Ukraine's military. If that's true, and if Trump characteristically threatens them with sanctions for doing so, the lines are officially drawn.

It wasn't Biden who made that imbecilic deal with the Taliban to leave a few months into 2021. He was only forced to push the date, but that doesn't mean the Taliban agreed with it. Once May 2021 came the Taliban conducted a major offensive and fought from then all the way to August when the US finally withdrew. Honestly, it really doesn't sound like you know anything about what happened. It can take years to safely withdraw from a warzone. No country can withdraw in just 4 or 5 months. Look at the withdrawals of Iraq and Vietnam. Biden would have been A LOT smarter about how he would have withdrawn from Afghanistan and the circumstances of that withdrawal. Trump made a deal with the Taliban where he barely got any concessions out of them. Sound familiar? It's what he's doing right now with Russia. If anything Trump was the one making the concessions to the Taliban. His weakness and shit deal was what created the chaos of the withdrawal. That's all on him. Chaos is what he's known for. But of course, that will never be the narrative spun by Maga. Anything to continue sucking off your dear leader for as long as humanly possible.
