Trump on Coming Debt Crisis: ‘I Won’t Be Here’ When It Blows Up

“Yeah, but I won’t be here,” the president bluntly said, according to a source who was in the room when Trump made this comment during discussions on the debt.

Fuck the media. This is bullshit.

I hope that is so, then we have six more years.

Since no one is interested in addressing the debt, might at least put it to good use. Build that wall and it will at least generate revenue for America for hundreds of years to come.

How the hell can a wall generate revenue?

The wall can save revenue by keeping welfare and medicaid recipients out...as well as foreigners sending money back home instead of spending it here in the US...the wall pays for itself many times over, plus the social benefits of higher wages....

Immigrants around the world sent $445 billion back to their home countries last year

They put a direct quote in the article from an anonymous source.

That is very poor journalism. I call it lying.

I say the context was him referring to the economy collapsing if we don’t address the debt, but it won’t be until he is gone that it really collapses.

Why do Dimms give a fuck about the debt? They never did while Obama was in office? It seems very disingenuous to me.

Yes, I want Trump to cut the debt. I want the entire Federal budget cut by 25% across the board. Penny for penny, 25%, every program. Military, too. Will the Dimms who just won Congress cut spending?

Unfortunately you suffer from TDS, Trump Denial Syndrome. Seek Help.

Trump is not interested in the budget deficit and the burgeoning government debt because he won't be in office when it blows up.

The biggest threat to government debt is rising interest rates which could make the debt self-fueling and unstoppable.

Trump ignorance of the government debt is negligence.

The president thinks the balancing of the nation’s books is going to, ultimately, be a future president’s problem.

Since the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump’s aides and advisers have tried to convince him of the importance of tackling the national debt.

Sources close to the president say he has repeatedly shrugged it off, implying that he doesn’t have to worry about the money owed to America’s creditors—currently about $21 trillion—because he won’t be around to shoulder the blame when it becomes even more untenable.

The friction came to a head in early 2017 when senior officials offered Trump charts and graphics laying out the numbers and showing a “hockey stick” spike in the national debt in the not-too-distant future. In response, Trump noted that the data suggested the debt would reach a critical mass only after his possible second term in office.

“I never once heard him talk about the debt.”

You know, I never thought that Trump was concerned with running this country properly, he just wants the pomp and circumstance of the office, but he doesn't want to do any real work.

When Trump was asked about the upcoming debt crisis, he said he's not worried about it because he will be out of office before it hits. Kinda like what Jr. was hoping for when he saw the economy started to crash, hope it holds off until the next guy gets into office.

Still think Trump cares about this country? I don't. I think he only cares about himself and his own bottom line.

And, anyone remember how Trump had said that he would get rid of the debt in 8 years, by doing wonderful trade deals? Well, apparently, that isn't gonna happen. Not only has he signed legislation with his tax bill that INCREASED the debt, but his trade wars with other countries are starting to hurt this nation.

And, this was predicted back in the beginning of April of 2016.

Trump: I will eliminate U.S. debt in 8 years

Eliminating that amount of debt in eight years is highly improbable, according to most economists, The Washington Post reported. It could require using $2 trillion a year from the annual $4 trillion budget to pay off holders of the debt.

Trump insisted in the interview that “renegotiating all of our deals” would help pay down the debt by sparking economic growth.

“The power is trade. Our deals are so bad,” Trump said. “I would immediately start renegotiating our trade deals with Mexico, China, Japan and all of these countries that are just absolutely destroying us.”

The Washington Post also refuted that claim, reporting that many economists have said a trade war could cripple the U.S. economy.

citing "a source who was in the room," which we note is anonymous - the standard operating procedure for most anti-Trump hit pieces. As such, one may want to take the report with copious grains of salt.

ROFLMAO! Yeah OK I believe it now! LOL....not like it matters...ANYTHING that actually needs cut the leftists scream and cry PEOPLE ARE GONNA DIE! If it get reformed or cut. So fuck it.

This one is for the End-the-Fed gold bugs:

Donald Trump: U.S. will never default 'because you print the money'

Trump thinks he can settle the federal debt the same way he settled the debt for his bankrupt casinos. He thinks we can default. That's Plan A.

Trump's Plan B is to print more money.

The man is an idiot.

Isn't printing more money something the conservatives accused Obama of wanting to do? And, weren't they staunchly against it?
Yep. Libertarians especially get their panties in a wad about printing money.

I've always been against it, too: The Fed's Bond Bubble Doomsday Machine

Read ANY source on the campaign and you can see Trump did NOT like wasting money where it wasn't needed but NOTHING that will cut what needs cut will happen with democrats in the house.

Looming? We’ve had the same policy about debt for decades. It’s obvious it isn’t going to change no matter who is elected. Both sides are terrified of cutting spending.
