Were you born yesterday? Trump & DOJ requested the dismissal then came up with the $1.8 billion "settlement" behind the judge's back without informing the court about it. They pulled that stunt because the judge was about to question the validity of the suit & had ordered DOJ to submit briefs to justify it.

The judge was very likely about to toss the suit & they knew it.

Of course that judge was going to throw the whole thing out. If nothing else, the statute of limitations had long expired. But now it's going to be reviewed in court where a judge will have the pleasure of doing that.

No, Trump is not dropping it. A federal court put a hold on it because there's at least one lawsuit moving forward challenging it. The DOJ said they strongly disagree with that decision but will abide by it. A hearing is scheduled for a week from Friday to see what happens next.
