Trump admits he’s BLOCKING stimulus plan and funding for US Postal Service in bid to stop mail-in voting

THE PRESIDENT is holding up Americans' stimulus checks because he wants to prevent voting by mail fraud.

President Trump said Thursday morning he is blocking the $2 trillion stimulus package put forth by Democrats because it allots $25 billion in emergency funding to the U.S. Postal Service, which he equated as "election money" in convoluted reasoning involving mail-in ballots.
The president is blocking Democrats' stimulus package because it contains $25 billion in emergency funding to the U.S. Postal Service' stimulus package because it contains $25 billion in emergency The president is blocking Democrats' stimulus package because it contains $25 billion in emergency funding to the U.S. Postal Service.

The president confidently emitted this morning on Fox News's 'Mornings with Maria,' that funding the U.S. Postal Service is a secret guise for allowing mail-in ballots.

"That's a rigged election waiting to happen. It's rigged and everyone knows it because you can't send out 60 million mail-in ballots to everybody in the--who knows who's going to get them," the president uttered this morning.

"The mailmen are going to get them, people are just gonna grab batches of them. And you're talking about China and Russia and they'll be grabbing plenty of them. It's a disaster," he said as he continued his tirade against the U.S. Postal Service.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democrats have put forth a $3 trillion stimulus package under the HEROES Act, which the speaker went over this morning during her weekly briefing as bringing money to areas impacted most by the COVID-19 crisis.

However, Trump is unwilling to budge on the $25 billion Democrats will allocate to the "financially troubled" U.S. Postal Service.

'That's election money basically,' he said. "If they don't get those two items, that means you can't have universal mail-in voting."

Trump places blame of the stalled stimulus package negotiations onto the Democrats.

"It's their fault," he said. "They want $3.5 billion for something that's fraudulent ... for the mail-in votes, universal mail-in ballots. They want $25 billion for the post office."

Polisi's chutzpah

No surprise he could care less of anyone but himself and how he can cheat to get re elected. It's ok though for us here in Florida to mail our ballots.
So he's pushing AGAINST a voting system that's less secure. . . because he wants to cheat? On what planet does that make sense?
What's less secure about it? Here in Kansas anyone can get a mail in ballots just by asking for it. Kris Kobach tried desperately for years to find vote fraud here and failed before he failed to find it nationwide for tRump.

Mail in ballots are perfectly safe.
I'm not against absentee ballots sent out on request.

That said, if you can't see what's inherently less secure about mail-in ballots, you're being willfully dense. You're talking about the votes sitting in mailboxes unsupervised for hours at a time, then passing through the hands of whoever happens to be employed by the post office, also unsupervised in the case of the mail carriers picking them up and delivering them. The difference in logistics between that and in-person polling is so insanely obvious that I'm kinda baffled that I even have to break it down for you.

Want actual evidence? A county in NY just threw out 80k ballots in their primaries, which amounted to 25 percent of their vote, and that's not the only place that's had massive numbers of disqualified ballots. When have you heard of 25 percent of a precinct's votes needing to be struck down at in-person polling places?

80,000. . . where have I heard that number before. . . OH YEAH!

Because fewer than 80k votes were the combined difference in the states that put Trump over on the EC in 2016. That's right, 1 blue district in blue ol' NY just threw out as many votes as it took to put Trump in the oval office, thanks largely to mail-in irregularities.

But no, you're right, SUPER secure.
I'd say 80,000 smacks of voter suppression.
What's your point?

They wouldn't have had the room to strike them down if they were cast in person, genius. My entire point is that this set up creates massive room for fraud. I give a fuck what party the fraudsters hail from.
The state's have shut down 90 % of their local voting places due to the virus, they now have a few mega voting centers. The volunteer election workers at the local precincts are mostly old people who have said they can't take the risk.

So polling places are miles away and not local for many, and then they have to wait 5 hours in line to vote.

PLEASE STOP THIS DISENFRANCHISING of our votes.....that's CHEATING.

Mail in votes is a way to reduce the 5 hour wait times there are voting in person in crowded areas.

There are only 3 New states...actually 2 states and DC, that announced they were mailing ballots to all registered voters due to the pandemic safety issues..... No additional states than these three...have changed their laws to accommodate such an idea that I'm aware...

And here is the kicker....it's California, Nevada, and Washington DC.....

All of them are Democratic voting states.... They all voted for Hillary by majority.... California and DC big time.

Even if your baseless and ridiculous claims of somehow mailing ballots to all registered voters would cause cheating and fraud and Trump to lose.....

It's laughable that you think Trump has a cold chance in hell of ever winning the Electoral Votes in a California etc.....under any circumstance.... in other words, their purpose IS NOT to cheat via mail in....THEY DON'T NEED TO CHEAT to win! IT IS FOR SAFETY REASONS, especially for those who do want to vote in person....less people, the safer the voters and poll workers, will be who do vote in person.
Funny part of this is it's likely to hurt republican'ts more. They tend to be rural. Here in the cities even "slow" mail delivery is a couple of days. It's out in the boonies where it's goanna take a week.
No shit. Studies show that it's disproportionately rural white folks who are affected by this, which disproportionately affects republicans. And yet you still shout from the rooftops that they're doing it to cheat and because they hate black people. Does the level of cognitive dissonance that allows you to acknowledge the probable republican disadvantage, and yet cling to your belief in their motives. . . Does it cause you physical pain?

You say the Dems want the elections less secure for safety reasons.
Why are they less secure? They go through the same process of verifying the registered mail in absentee voter that they do for everyone, including military votes.... They verify the signature on file, if it doesn't match, they contact the registered voter, if the registered voter swears it is their vote, then they are given the opportunity to come to the election office and prove it..... otherwise, the mail in vote is disqualified.
Also

You suppose the voters who's ballots are tardy get contacted before their votes are struck down? You know, to verify whether or not they had intended for those ballots to get delivered on schedule?

When a precinct strikes down 25 percent of its ballots, do you think that those are only the people who they weren't able to get in touch with?
Don't let the post office delay them. Don't take away the OT hours for postal workers, don't take away mail processing machines, don't remove mail boxes and haul them away.

THIS IS WHAT YOU VIA TRUMP AND HIS PAWN heading the post office are doing....

They are TRYING TO MAKE IT LESS SAFE.... And CHAOTIC.... mayhem.

This is what the so called Leader, you blindly parrot, is doing. Do you think that's fair and just? Or something you'd ever witness a President of the United States do??? Ever???

It's sad to see, how low, you will go....
These things happened prior to three days ago, genius. The defunding had nothing to do with the fuck ups already occurring in states trying a last minute implementation of universal mail-in systems.

Don't let the post office delay them? LMFAO! Yeah, pass a law that says they have to be prompt! BAM! Problem solved!

And I'm sorry, but you don't get to tell me about being a blind parrot as you continue to ignore the OBVIOUS opportunities for bullshit with a universal mail-in system, and just refer stubbornly back to a lack of existing convictions like that's evidence that it can't be done.

Also, minor point, but logistically, removing mailboxes doesn't make it harder for the mail carriers to deliver on time. It makes less boxes for them to have to pick up. Granted, people waiting until the last minute to go turn in those ballots only to realize that their usual mail drop is gone get hit by this, but in those many cases where the voter isn't at fault for the tardiness of their ballot, the removal of box locations actually mitigates the difficulty for the delivery people by consolidating their pickups.
The swamp picked post .master General has been cutting hours Since June, when a lot of these mail in primaries occurred....

6 states, one for 20 years , only do universal mail in voting.... all with no fraud, all with the post offices handling the massive amounts of ballots.... now, your so called leader, is trying to mess it up, for even them, with all of this post office shenanigans...it's disgraceful what Trump will do with his position of trust, to cheat.

(Can't wait till God throws him in to the Lake of Fire!) Be careful you are not one of his minions that are sent with him...
Actually, he's been cutting them since March for a variety of reasons, but I don't expect that you can be budged from your very politically charged suspicions. I do, however, stand corrected as to whether the cuts in question had anything to do with the F ups. Entirely possible.

Holy shit, though, wishing for Trump to burn for eternity? You TDS types are so hilariously dramatic that I constantly wonder if I'm just being trolled. What is it that Trump's done that's worthy of infinite torture?

It needs to be said that republicans didn’t give a shit about mail in voting before Trump decided to rail against it. These are idiots who can’t think for themselves.

I don't see how you dem supporters could be so convinced that Russia stole 2016 for Trump, yet you're still adamant about going to a voting scheme that creates easy opportunities for massive election fraud. Not just saying things on the internet that you don't agree with, but outright ballot stuffing.

Repeating a lie over and over doesn't make it true.

Amber McReynolds, a former Colorado election official and now the CEO of the National Vote at Home Institute, and Charles Stewart, director of the MIT Election Data and Science Lab, recently put the numbers in context in an op-ed in The Hill titled "Let's put the vote-by-mail 'fraud' myth to rest."
Over the past 20 years, they write, more than 250 million ballots have been cast by mail nationwide, while there have been just 143 criminal convictions for election fraud related to mail ballots. That averages out to about one case per state every six or seven years, or a fraud rate of 0.00006%.
The fact that people haven't been caught doing something in the past doesn't mean the opportunity isn't there.

What kinda moron doesn't start locking his door upon leaving his house, until AFTER his house has been robbed? Nah, not only then, but until after someone has been convicted of robbing his house!
That's right. We can't prove leprechauns aren't stealing all the gold just because nobody sees them doing it. Jesus, you obviously learned logic at Trump University.

There are measures in place to catch people if they try to commit fraud. The house is guarded. If you try to commit VBM fraud, you will be caught.
I'm glad you trust in the infallible vigilance and integrity of law enforcement when it seems politically convenient, but declaring that an unsupervised chain of custody is secure simply because you aren't aware of many cases where it's been exploited is significantly more delusional than pointing out the obvious openings. If a mail carrier decided to hang onto a bag of mail containing a few hundred, a few thousand ballots and torch it in a fireplace after work, how would you know? I'm not even saying that it's happened, by why do you believe that it couldn't?

Trump places blame of the stalled stimulus package negotiations onto the Democrats.

"It's their fault," he said. "They want $3.5 billion for something that's fraudulent ... for the mail-in votes, universal mail-in ballots. They want $25 billion for the post office."

Polisi's chutzpah

No surprise he could care less of anyone but himself and how he can cheat to get re elected. It's ok though for us here in Florida to mail our ballots.
So he's pushing AGAINST a voting system that's less secure. . . because he wants to cheat? On what planet does that make sense?
You asshats are the only ones suggesting it is less secure.
I am well aware that you lefties are ignoring the obvious opportunities for shenanigans.

He has said things that he felt were truth, and that he had learned overtime in his life while growing up just like most Americans learned in those generations, therefore he had agreed upon those things learned within his traditional upbringings just as most Americans would and still do.... He covered that abortion above and beyond the levels at which the baby would be severely deformed or that the mother was in danger would be just wrong in all other circumstances (Most American's agree)... Yep, along with many other things that believers and non-believers do believe in, he has echoed many American's thoughts on the many issues being faced (he's a people's president), otherwise when he said the things that they do believe in, and then represented them in those things from a powerful platform (as the presidents platform is), the people loved him for it....... This has therefore put him in hot water with the radical left who has been after him ever since.

he's abusing his power for his own personal benefit...instead of the American people and their right to vote, safely.... he should be overfunding the post office for this extraordinary pandemic period, instead he's cut it and slowed down the mail system.... so much so, that people are not getting their prescriptions through mail on time....

he is CHEATING FOR HIS OWN ELECTION..... why oh why can you not admit the truth? This is just plain wrong.

AND the gosh darn swamp needs DRAINING.... trump's new postmaster general is a huge donor of Donald Trump's, ran the campaign finances for the RNC, with Michael Cohen and Broidy who were both fired, and MOST IMPORTANTLY is heavily invested in US Postal Service's competitors like UPS etc with $100 MILLION of his asset investments....
You have no right to vote "safely," moron. Every intelligent person understand that Dims are trying to facilitate voter fraud.

Trump is following the law, not cheating - which is what Dims are trying to do.
Only the lemmings that follow the liar n chief's every lie, believes Dems are doing this for voter fraud....

They're doing it, to make it easier to vote during the pandemic.... the more citizens that vote, the less that are disenfranchised of their vote, which democrats hope, will give them more votes.... but it is no guarantee.... because the elderly who are Republicans, will also get a chance to vote safely, like those in Florida.
In all fairness I been saying that the dems are intentionally creating opportunities for voter fraud since the voter ID argument started, well before the age of Trump. One of the things that folks like you should learn to do is suppress your urge to blame every problem on him, regardless of how far that problem predates his presidency. When you aren't able to hold that back, it makes your TDS super obvious.

It needs to be said that republicans didn’t give a shit about mail in voting before Trump decided to rail against it. These are idiots who can’t think for themselves.
He's railing and rightfully so, because he knows what the left will be up to in this election, especially with the set up they got now. MAGA Trump MAGA.

Pretty close to my thoughts.

I think the left got spoiled. They've grown accustomed to, when someone has given them excuse to take offense, being able to shame that someone into slinking off into obscurity after a forced and pathetic apology, or being able to shame enough of that someone's support base away from them to force that someone into obscurity. In those cases where they're offended but their efforts to punish the offender are ultimately rendered impotent, it INFURIATES them, and that resulting fury seems to be directly proportionate to the amount of effort ultimately applied to a failed attempt to cancel an offensive party. With Donald Trump, they turned the entire media machine on him like I haven't seen done in my lifetime. And not only did he refuse to apologize, but he then subsequently refused to fuck off, and his supporters refused to fuck off no matter how hyperbolic they got with their accusations of Trump being the next Hitler. After all that didn't work, they've been driven to absolutely childish, tantrum levels of rationality and self awareness. It'd be fucking hilarious if these people weren't in charge of our cultural and academic institutions.

It needs to be said that republicans didn’t give a shit about mail in voting before Trump decided to rail against it. These are idiots who can’t think for themselves.
Other than Utah, all the states with universal mail in voting are blue states. Republicans have never been fond of the idea, but by and large, they've been fine tolerating it because the EC keeps the problem created by those blue states contained to those blue states, who would likely be sending democrats to Washington pretty uniformly regardless of any fraud. There's been no reason to object because there's no evidence that it's disenfranchised republican participation at the federal level to any significant degree, so the only ones of us with any real visceral cause to bitch about it are the hopelessly outnumbered conservatives in states like Oregon.

Quite frankly, I've been pissed at this system since its onset, but nobody ever bothered to bring it up until it became a national issue. As far as the rest of the republicans/conservatives, they aren't bringing it up suddenly because Trump told them to, they're bringing it up suddenly because, prior to this, nobody was trying to force this system on their states.

I would have thought that they should be investing in the postal service with an election coming up amid an out of control pandemic.
This smells like a coup.

A pollworker could do that with polling place ballots. A leprechaun could magic away ALL the ballots. I'm not saying it has happened but it could happen couldn't it?

If you don't trust the USPS, drop your voted mail ballot off in a drop box or at the registrars office.

A poll worker in a polling place full of voters, other poll workers, and observers from the two parties is FAR less likely to get away with it than a postal worker alone in his truck for six hours. Keep acting like the logistics aren't fucking OBVIOUS. Seriously. It doesn't look desperate at all.

I do use a drop box, btw. I'm not even trying to imply that postal workers are untrustworthy. However, when it comes to the fate of an election, particularly in the cases of uniquely contentious ones such as what we're looking at in 2020, NOBODY should be blindly trusted with any portion of the election's outcome beyond their own vote. EVERYBODY involved in the process should be heavily scrutinized for the entire time they're working, period, end of story.

You don't think a pollworker could get access to the ballots? You've never worked a polling place.

We've been sending medication, money, computers, all kinds of important, high value items through the mail. We've been sending ballots through the mail. It is a safe and secure alternative to voting in person. When my county switched to all vote by mail (over 3 years ago) over 65% of our voters had already chosen to be permanent vote by mail voters. As in they got a ballot automatically by mail every election. In an off year election, turnout at polling places could be as low as 12%. People PREFER to vote this way. It's easy, convenient and SAFE.

Of course, the biggest reason you Trump psychophants don't like Vote by Mail is that it increases voter turnout and more people voting is bad for Trump.

Where did I say it couldn't happen? I said, literally, that they're "FAR less likely to get away with it". Less likely. Not completely unable. Even by strawman standards this is a weak comeback.

And of course voting by mail is more convenient than going to a polling place and standing in line on election day. You can do it from home. Let me be clear: In comparison to the election being safe, I don't give two shits about it being convenient. Convenient, compared to secure, is an afterthought. It's LESS than an afterthought. Quite frankly, if you can't be bothered to do something that isn't optimally convenient in order to speak your piece, then maybe you don't give enough of a shit about what's going on for me to care whether or not you have a say in the national decision making processes.

You think I feel this way because I'm a Trump sycophant? LMFAO. As I've already clarified, this is essentially the same argument I've been making since the voter ID topic came up during Obama. Trump's got precisely ZERO to do with how I feel about mail in voting. I'm pretty sure that your constant string of accusations that everybody you disagree with is just parroting for their political party, is straight up projection.

A pollworker could do that with polling place ballots. A leprechaun could magic away ALL the ballots. I'm not saying it has happened but it could happen couldn't it?

If you don't trust the USPS, drop your voted mail ballot off in a drop box or at the registrars office.
A poll worker in a polling place full of voters, other poll workers, and observers from the two parties is FAR less likely to get away with it than a postal worker alone in his truck for six hours. Keep acting like the logistics aren't fucking OBVIOUS. Seriously. It doesn't look desperate at all.

If that's the case then both parties should be shaking in their boots.

Uh oh.

Another federal judge paid for and owned by the leftist wing of the demon-cratzi party eh ??? All our government has to have is the understanding of what could take place in a system not secured to the satisfaction of government standards, and especially when it comes to voting to postpone it or stop it. Now if the judge would have said that the administration had to send in experts before him, otherwise in order to demonstrate the risk and possibilities of mail-in-fraud involved in the new way of voting, then that is one thing, but that isn't what the leftist activist judge did or wanted was it ????
