There is a prediction that trump will be totally inconsequential within a year or so. The GOP is now trembling in their boots at the prospect that he will seek vengeance on them by primarying some of those he sees as disloyal with his own loyalist. But The Don is going to be busy defending himself in court after January 20th. He may be too busy and too legally impaired to successfully endorse anyone.
