Fox News host Sean Hannity asked the former president Thursday night if he had “authorized” the Guard to protect the Capitol building “in the lead-up” to Jan. 6, 2021. Trump responded: “One hundred percent, and attested to by many people. And they turned it down … Nancy Pelosi turned it down ... and she’s in charge of the Capitol.”

There would have been “no problem whatsoever, but they turned it down, which tells you everything,” Trump claimed, also referring to Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser. “If not for those Democrats ... you would not have had any problem. It would have just been absolutely a lovely day.”

Trump did nothing to help for 187 minutes as he watched the violence unfold on TV in the White House, the Jan. 6 House Select Committee investigating the attack has said, citing firsthand testimony.

Why would the Capitol of the United States of America needed protection from Trump Supporters on January 6th anyway? Why would Trump Supporters want to beat the hell out of the police, violently break doors and windows, steal laptops, and poop in the hallways? What's up with that?

And not to go unnoticed, the requested (and issued) permit for the assembly was at the Eclipse, 2.1 miles away.
DTrump and the organizers did not mention* --nor did they request a permit for -- a march, a parade, a movement on city streets to the Capitol.

They could have, but they didn't. Their permit was for an assembly AT the Eclipse.
Such a permit request and issuance would have alerted the Metropolitan police, the Park police, and the Secret Service that a movement of a large body of civilians was expected. And it would be aimed at the Capitol. Traffic control barriers would have been erected, more staffing would have been on the street and at the Capitol.

But.......

But DTrump kept his plans to announce a march secret. Until he could announce it from the stage at the Eclipse 2.1 miles away.

Why keep the 'march' secret?
Why keep it secret from the authorities who could have actually done something about crowd control? About staffing?
