They did. And Trump signed a massive tax cut without spending offsets, which was an economic stimulus, and still couldn't get us over 3% GDP growth. GDP growth fell again in 2019 to 2.3% which is coincident and probably caused in large part by Trump's trade war.

What do you think Trump's average GDP growth is going to be for his first term? Whatever it is, it's not going to be 2.5%. That's for dang sure.
