One of the ideas put forth as to why they are fighting like hell to get another right winger on the SCOTUS before the election was to insure another Bush-Gore decision if it got that far. The tin foil hats denied it but here is Trump practically saying the same thing...
Trump says he'll accept a 2020 decision from the Supreme Court — after getting his nominee on the bench
One of the most consistent observations made by people who have formerly worked with him in the administration is that, by far, his top priority is being re-elected. So it's safe to assume that he's going to do whatever it takes. Literally. His ego would be far too damaged and fragile for him to admit defeat.
Yeah.. Focusing on getting re-elected by FULFILLING campaign promises and working like a dog is highly over-rated.,. And makes every other pol in DC look like a slacker..
It would be a little more inspiring if he hadn't lost the popular vote by three million votes.
Let's not pretend that he's doing this for America, writ large. That would be a lie.
He is a nationalist authoritarian, shoving it down the throats of 55% of America, and we all know it.
An authoritarian oligarch government = Republican dream
And all along they were pretending to be "conservatives", pushing "conservative values" and "limited government".
It was all a lie. They wanted an arrogant, pugilistic, authoritarian, white, nationalist strongman. Like Europe, 90 years ago.
You have to admit. They fooled us. We thought they were serious.
