trump is escalating his war on the media, following a blueprint set by Orban

The Trump administration's escalating war on the media | KALW

There's a lot to discuss. Paramount, the owner of CBS, and Disney, the owner of ABC, have agreed to pay Trump millions of dollars to settle lawsuits. The White House has banned Associated Press reporters from the Oval Office and other presidential events after the outlet refused to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. The White House recently prohibited a Wall Street Journal reporter from boarding Air Force One to cover Trump's trip to Scotland after the paper published an article on July 17 called: Jeffrey Epstein's friends sent him bawdy letters for a 50th birthday. One was from Donald Trump. Trump has filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against News Corp and chair emeritus and longtime Trump ally Rupert Murdoch. News Corp owns the Wall Street Journal.

Tim Richardson, journalism and disinformation program manager at PEN America, told HuffPost this sets a dangerous precedent and it’s hard to say where this ends

I never thought I would say I wish George W was back in office. He was horrid. He wasted billions on a couple wars that accomplished little. But he respected the United States Constitution and he respected the rule of law. The man we see in the oval office now makes his own laws and see the Constitution as a barrier to autocratic tendencies. If we make it through the next 3 1/2 years as a democracy, it will be a minor miracle.
Hungary's Orban demonstrates how to dismantle democracy : NPR

Orban, 61, is in his fourth consecutive term as prime minister. In that time, he and his allies have dismantled democratic checks and balances, taken control of the country's media, civil society and universities, and consolidated power in himself and his Fidesz party. The dismantling of Hungary's democracy is a point of fascination for political scientists around the world — including those advising the Trump administration.

trump is following, with amazing accuracy, the plan laid out by Orban and his cronies. And the repub party is an accessory these efforts.
Trump has given the MSM more access that any POTUS in history .. as far as the lawsuits .. the left is angry that a republican POTUS wont roll over and take the lies and abuse being constantly doled out by the lefts American Pravda ..

The American legacy media has been warring against Trump. The OP has it backward as usual for Marxists who initiate violence and blame everyone else. It reminds me of children bullying others and blaming others when they reciprocate. Marxist tactic.

Is there any law that states what media outlets he has to interact with? Why allow them access to the president when they'll just spin everything and write hit pieces on him?

The repubs are enabling the most immoral, unethical, criminally corrupt, human to ever sit in the WH. They are allowing him to systematically destroy the foundation of our democracy. But when the Dems once again take backpower and turn the tables on them, by utilizing all the skewed USSC ruling that give the executive near King powers, they will scream bloody murder. "HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?"

Political fortunes change. They always do. MAGA will get slammed first in Virginia in November. Then will come the mid-terms. I hope the nationals Dems have learn that extremes to the left or the right are very short lived.

The media is responsible for its failure not Trump

Anger, venon and lies are what you live on. Fox has spewed those things constantly since the day they went on the air. In that, they were imitating the Limbaughs, Becks, Jones, Breitbarts, and Bannons of your fake news world.

News should not be just whatever conforms to your own tiny world view.

But right wing America deliberately limits itself to that bubble.
A little history. Rupert bought the majority his media empire from John Kluge, who was a billionaire who owned Metro Media. Although Kluge did not get so involved in politics, he leaned towards Democrats. Kluge died in 2010. Rupert has expanded his hold on American media since then. He has done untold damage to our democracy, by spreading lies and conspiracy theories that have strengthened the far right, even to the point of fascism.

He and trump are now beginning a tussle of the supposed birthday card that trump sent to Epstein. I don't think trump really wants to go to court on this. Discovery may end his standing with MAGA. But bullies will be bullies. He cannot help himself.

CNN just reported a black mass killer as white. Viewers down to 355000 a day. Colbert fired, more to come as the media destroys itself
Google Hungary and Orban. See what trump is taking us. Wait, you are a Magat. You will blame someone else.

Most of them get tossed before there's even a hearing.
