trump is demanding Panama returns the canal

I thought I was in the Political Satire section there for a moment.

He's not even in office yet, and the daily chaos is back, more embarrassing than ever. Let's all just embrace our inner nihilist and watch!

I've got Brawndo and popcorn, let's go!

can they not desalinate the water?
To raise the lake level, saltwater is being pumped into the freshwater lake, which is the source for drinking water. The amount of water needed for one cargo ship is 52 million gallons. As far as I know the largest capacity desalination plants can only produce that much fresh water in 24 hours, and at a very high energy cost. Besides, saltwater will harm the locks.

I propose we build a new canal:

And there, folks, is the point of the thread.

Only took 180 posts to get there.
Sorry. Was busy watching original Star Trek on Pluto TV.

Only one of us here is stupid enough to talk Trump’s latest BS seriously.

The only BS is you do pretending you know shit about how widely the US gets ripped off by so called partners. The canal issue makes perfect sense. More than half of our intake cargo is affected. Whatsamatta you afraid prices will come down?

“It was not given for the benefit of others, but merely as a token of cooperation with us and Panama,” Trump said. “If the principles, both moral and legal, of this magnanimous gesture of giving are not followed, then we will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to us, in full, and without question. To the Officials of Panama, please be guided accordingly!”

Do you think it will happen before or after Mexico pays for the wall?

But seriously, does this sound like the ravings of a madman or a reasonable person to you?

We are gonna be a laughingstock again before he even takes office.
Donny is delusional

Yeah but the fresh water isn't lost and pumped into the sea is it? I'm sure they just pump it back into the lake when they need to lower the lock, correct? Point being, if the feed lake gets low, they can desalinate water to fill it as needed?

Donny is delusional

Not so much... Given given the high levels of corruption in Panama...it's almost certain that the high canal fees are more extortion than they are actual fees. They have not kept up the maintenance on the canal...too busy running their drug empires. TRUMP is spot on here!
