Trump has called for a $5 trillion dollar increase in the national debt ceiling. The Senate and House are currently in process of reconciling their separate bills. The Senate went with Trump's $5 trillion increase, the House bill increases the debt ceiling by $4 trillion. All during time when the country has increased taxes our businesses pay through tariffs.

I understand the balance of power. What I don't understand is, for a country of the people, how reasonable is it that leadership of the country is determined through voters given the choice of:

• one candidate in the primary getting 11% of the total votes cast in the presidential election
• while the other major party's candidate got 0%.
