Said my Mom. To which I replied, "Maybe that's what we need as President. Someone more like Putin who'll scare the hell out of our enemies so they don't attack us again?'

Can you imagine Rome's enemies picking a fight with them willy-nilly?

"Did you know that two thousand years ago a Roman citizen could walk across the face of the known world free of the fear of molestation? He could walk across the Earth unharmed, cloaked only in the protection of the words civis Romanus -- I am a Roman citizen. So great was the retribution of Rome, universally understood as certain, should any harm befall even one of its citizens."
- "President Barlett," "The West Wing"

Nowadays, instead of our enemies avoiding American casualties fearing the retaliation, they actively seek us out because they know nothing will come of it. That needs to change. You attack an American here or anywhere in the world and the retaliation will be swift and completely disproportional in response.

"No matter how big a guy might be, Nicky would take him on. You beat Nicky with fists, he comes back with a bat. You beat him with a knife, he comes back with a gun. And you beat him with a gun, you better kill him, because he’ll keep comin’ back and back until one of you is dead."
- "Casino" (1995)

Instead of this we've become the little pug bulldog barking up a storm at the cat who tiring of it jumps up onto the couch making the pug retreat to the corner whimpering and crying like the bitch it is.

We currently have a psychopath in the WH. Is a sociopath an improvement?

Most surgeons are on the psychopath spectrum. Doesn't mean what you think. :)
What?

A psychopath doesn’t have a conscience. If he lies to you so he can steal your money, he won’t feel any moral qualms, though he may pretend to. He may observe others and then act the way they do so he’s not “found out,” Tompkins says.

A sociopath typically has a conscience, but it’s weak. He may know that taking your money is wrong, and he might feel some guilt or remorse, but that won’t stop his behavior.

Sociopath vs. Psychopath: What’s the Difference?

If you obtain most of your knowledge from TV shows and movies, you're likely to be a Trump supporter.

Can't be right.

Number one in both categories has to be politicians.

Sociopaths are great.

It's psychopaths you have to watc out for. They should be executed without trial.

The definitions mentioned above are, to put it kindly, not universally accepted. A sociopath is a person without a conscience. Someone who will lie, cheat, or steal, giving consideration only to whether s/he might be caught, but having no consideration whatsoever about the harm done to the victims.

A psychopath is someone who is seriously mentally ill, often violent, who finds gratification in destructive behavior, often against other people (as opposed to property). Our maximum security prisons are chock full of psychopaths.

Few politicians are sociopathic, and there is no rational argument that can be made to "prove" that the public persona of Donald Trump is sociopathic.

MANY professions (and I use the word loosely) have at their core a willingness to intentionally deceive people for personal gain. Salesmen (to the public, not commercial), lawyers, and politicians come immediately to mind. Ethical practitioners in these fields don't exactly LIE, they merely state their case in a one-sided manner, emphasizing the positive and minimizing the negative.

The best example of an ethical political prevarication that I can think of is when President Clinton told America that he did not have "sexual relations" with Ms. Lewinsky. AT THE TIME, most Americans considered that "having sex" meant having normal sexual intercourse. Thus, being the recipient of a BJ was not "having sex," and Clinton was telling the truth.

There is nothing sociopathic about politicians making the case for the positions they hold dear by emphasizing the supporting arguments and ignoring or minimizing those that go against him (her).

Bullshit.

You are describing psychopaths. Sociopaths are just very anti social.

I sociopath might kill you, but he will feel guilt afterward and bd apprehended. A psychopath will do ANYTHING they get a fetish for doingto you AND they will get away with it.

Why are you lying? Defending psychopaths?
