Ukraine lost this war the moment Russia spent over a year massing troops on the border and the Biden acted surprised when the invasion happened. Apparently he thought all those tanks were there for a parade rehearsal.
At this point, what does “winning” even look like? Russia still controls about 20% of Ukrainian territory, and despite massive Western aid, Ukraine hasn’t been able to take it back.
Yes, Ukraine has pulled off some impressive tactical strikes, but tactical wins aren’t the same as strategic victory. That’s the difference between winning a battle and winning a war.
And no, this isn’t “supporting Russia.” It’s just reality. Most of the war has been fought on Ukrainian soil, their cities are devastated, millions are displaced, and an entire generation of young men has been killed or wounded.
In a war of attrition, eventually you run into the one thing other countries won’t really provide: boots on the ground.
